So the lag and load issue seem to be related to a. issues with AMD processors and b. 64 bit computing. So I figured I'd try installing it in XP mode (as I have Win7 Pro), which emulates a WinXP 32 bit enviroment as a way to solve compatability issues.

And the DA disc won't authenticate under XP mode. Yay.

Out of curiousity, has anyone tried XP mode with the Steam version?
