yeah we did all that fun stuff .My dad even took out the "computer kit" used a huge magnifing glass to check and make sure.I think it was one of the rare exceptions of being a bad card.I had only mentioned it here when i saw the card she was interested in. I got the nvidia card and I am happy.Like most things with computers they will always war at which is better and who got what out the fastest. It all comes down to what you want to spend.I didn't have a good time with the ATI card.Doesn't mean Nihoela wont have a awesome time with it.

Are you connecting the Graphics Card to the Monitor via HDMI? I've recently been researching it & found that sometimes the 2 HDMI connected items clash in some sort of Frequency sorta way i'm still trying to learn about, & it can prevent compatibility between the 2 items via HDMI & force the use of alternative hookup means.

I am not sure if they tried that. It's not something I'm familiar with. They may have tried several different options. I know there was a time I got bored because they were both standing over my computer,So I sat and watched tv.When the men in my life get computer problems its one of those they sit at it til they figure it out. I made them cookies to lure them away and that didn't work. So for a 3 hr period I was left in the dark on what was being tried. Given there computer knowledge it wouldn't surprise me tho. My dad's old school computer tech(he was working on computers when they were monster machines),and my friend works for a software company and builds computers on the side.I also play WoW and have a bunch more computer geeks that offered advice.

Like I stated before I'm not a computer genius I just have friends that are =D.

I do know that when I had this new system built I gave my friend a price of what I wanted to spend.I reused my old speakers, keyboard, monitor, usb headset, and mouse.Everything else was brand new. When we couldnt get the ATI to work, not even doing what the website suggested, not even old school tweaks, under clocking (is that the right term?),taking it apart and going over every inch of the computer. My friend and my dad think its one of those rare bad cards.(yes there was other things tried but the terms and words go over my head )

My friend shipped the Nvidia card from Newegg tho and everything has been fine since.

Only remaining thing I can think of also might sound stupid. I took a look-see at 'ATI 5770' Graphics Cards on NewEgg. I spotted that some versions are a PCI Express 2.0 x16 Slot user, & some versions are a PCI Express 2.1 x16 Slot user. Have you checked if the Expansion Slot on the Motherboard is PCI Express 2.0 or 2.1 x16? There's such a thing as a PCI Express (no number) x16 Slot if I remember correctly. I assume trying to stick a PCI Express 2.0/1 x16 Card into a PCI Express x16 Slot would likely be non-compatible.

If this doesn't explain it, then it looks like bad card will be the only remaining explanation.
