Yeah I'm guessing you're trying to fire at enemies too far away... Up close it's awesome. Just remember to burst-fire it into some dude's face, and you should find it more effective.

I like using the Shuriken over the Tempest, for some reason. I love that control of 3 round bursts over having to manually tap the trigger yourself. Made it through an insanity run with it and I think people don't give it enough credit.



SMGs in general are pretty awesome. They act like mini-assault rifles, which is why I go for other weapons during that certain part of the game.

The pistol and the SMG are my favorite weapons. I like the battle rifle too, but it is quite powerful.

SMG = small machine gun

Obviously they are inferior to assault rifles and LMG's at long range; SMG's are short-medium range weapons. If you don't have access to AR's and LMG's (like most classes), then the SMG is a very viable weapon (especially with a LVL4 weapon mod).

Tempest is a killer at close range and the Shuriken has the advantage of being effective of a bit longer range.

With my Sentinel i used Tempest in short range combat and Viper in Long Range, i never had damage problems, especially with AP Ammo . Tempest tends to get pretty inaccurate after a short burst.

I think even the Shuriken is a great weapon. Just put in some inferno ammo and and get close up, and the enemy is dead meat

You should forgive yourself for laughing right now. Anyway, SMG is a very versatile weapon. It can be effective in almost all situation, except for snipping of course.

i absolutely love the SMG



i use that and my sniper rifle as an infliltrator and i'm unstoppable.

one for long range another for short range. only thing missing is the assault rifle (but it makes sense for it's absence).

Yes, the Revenant. It's a Soldier exclusive and available through Advanced Weapon Training.

My mistake, although "small" can still carry the same connotation as the "sub-" prefix.

"sub-" used in submachine-gun indicates "lesser/inferior" which is due to it's size (barrel length, potential energy in the shells, projectile size, etc) and "small" used as the prefix can communicate something similar.
