i have this problem that is driving me nuts, i can log in to the forum and have the "keep me signed in" button checked - altough with every action i do that requires being looged in (trying to post an answer, start a topic), i get kicked out again and need to re-loggin - this happens every time which means posting doesnt work anymore... it only happens with my desktop pc - which has windows 7 and the newest internet explorer...

it has proably something to do with cookies / security - but i can't find out what...the site is allready on my secure sites list with the lowest possible security settings...what is the problem???

Switch to Firefox 3.6. It's got superior Cookie Management.

I had occasional log-out glitch as well on IE8. I tried out Firefox, & it logged out every time I closed my Browser. I managed cookies on Firefox, & changed a setting to keep Cookies until they Expire, & my log-in problems haven't ever been seen ever again.

Another of these threads, eh?

Maybe by the hundredth one we'll get somewhere close to the ghost of a beginning of a wisp of a solution.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I made a thread 2 months ago about this problem and recieved no answers or even replies.

That happens all the time, Raycer. There's been a gajillion of these threads.

There's no definitive solution yet, and we shouldn't expect one any time soon.

The issue seems to come and go for me - I too have posted about this before when it starts popping up all the time - the last couple of days has been the first time in the last couple of months that it has been an issue for me again.

I suspect its related to the ongoing tweaking of the site in general - fiddling with one thing breaking another untl someone discovers it and tweaks some more.

In that sense it's certainly a good idea to post about it - just because no official answers are posted in the thread doesn't necessarily mean no one saw it and passed the gist of it on to the gnomes in the basement to add to their current agenda.

The problem tends to fluctuate a bit for me as well, though not by that big a margin.

I have the same problem, so when it happens I usually just give up and try again later.

Oddly enough if you _don't_ tick the "keep me logged in" box, it seems IE can at least keep you logged on until you close it. Saves the hassle of logging in with every action.

Other than that, it may be result of having the Protected Mode enabled (on Security tab in Internet Options)

The remember me box thing has never  worked for me. It's so irritating!

The problem's so bad it's starting to erode my sanity. Recently I tried to submit the same post 48 times, got logged out each time. Over and over. Eventually I had to abandon the post completely.

Never worked for me either, so I use firefox for this site, but would rather that it worked in IE8

I have the same issue at times with IE8, but it seems to be random, sometimes I'll have 4 or 5 posts open at the same time and it'll log me out of 1 or 2 of them. Other times I'll be going through the main Forum lists and it will randomly log me out when I move from a sub-forum to the the main list in the same browser window. /shrug

Every suggested solution doesn't seem to work in my case. Not the remember me box, not switching to Firefox to make it magically better. *sigh*

And it's just your forums, you know, Bioware. Probably some code unique to those boards or something... As long as I'm not in the forums the rest of this site can remember my login just fine, never logs me out.

Diary of an Insane Forumite, Entry 1:

Dear Diary,

I can feel the madness closing in. The login problems will not stop. It is getting harder and harder to concentrate and remember things. The world is swimming. What was that? I heard a noise. Diary, I think there's someone here with me.

... Today I could no longer edit my posts. This has begun to cause mild insanity. I'll try to submit a lengthy post but then I'll hit submit, it will log me off, and  I'll lose it all. I've taken to obsessively saving everything I write and it's screwing with my head, now I can't even throw away my candybar wrappers. My family is concerned.

They don't understand. You have to save everything, everything, you could lose it all after you click submit, everything. What was that? A shadow moved. It looked like a panda.

It's after my candybar wrappers. I have to hide them. Evil panda.

Diary of an Insane Forumite, Entry 2:

Dear Diary,

I created a filing system for all my candy bar wrappers today and it is working superbly. Now they’re all safe. Everything has to be safe. I have copies of all my bill payments in case the landlord stops remembering I live here and tries to kick me out over and over every time I try to come home.

Last count, logged out 49 times in today’s session. Darkness flickers, flashing lights. I am a mindless zombie at my computer, eyes wide and glassy, body slumped lifelessly in my chair, mouth gaping soundlessly, mindlessly clicking the login button over… and over… and over… and over…

What was that? The walls look funny. It’s all closing in on me. There is cottage cheese everywhere, everywhere.

I have begun to jump at small noises now. The pipes gurgle at night and it scares me. What are they saying? What do they want from me? I switched to Firefox like they said, I switched, I switched, I switched...

What was that? The voices... the wind in the trees…shadows whispering, everywhere, everywhere…

“You are not permitted access to this restricted area, please login… you are not permitted access to this restricted area, please login…”

There – the panda! Oh God it’s back! My candy bar wrappers!!!

Diary of an Insane Forumite, Entry 3:

Dear Diary,

... I was logged out 51 times today. The madness has began to erode my higher cognitive functions. What is four times four? I do not know...

I have begun to weep uncontrollably at random moments. Eating a sub at the Subway, when a friend asked me if I had any ketchup, when a professor asked if I had signed in to the library...

The word "login" has begun to make me shriek madly whenever I hear it. People stare. Diary, I think I am going mad.

Mother thinks I need help, I keep repeating the same statements to her over and over out of fear she didn’t receive it and her ears had logged me off. “Don’t log me off!” I cry. “Can you hear me?! I said the chicken is ready, the chicken is ready, THE CHICKEN IS READY!!! For the love of God, THE CHICKEN!!!”

She screams she heard me the first time. I do not believe her. No one hears me. No one ever hears me...

Slipping... slipping... I am slipping... scissors. 57. Fettucini...

They have bigger matters that need their attention, methinks. Plus I imagine it's hard to sift through all that forum code...
