I'm an engineering student, I built my own PC and it's not necessarily a super-powerhouse. I despise Macs with a fiery passion because I do a huge range of tasks with both my desktop and laptop, and I don't enjoy being put on rails in terms of software selection. Also, Macs are unjustifiably expensive. Anyone that says anything about Boot Camp will be summarily executed. Also, AVG antivirus is for the win.

Macs are just hype.

There's no reason to get a gaming laptop unless you're going to use it a lot.
As for desktop, go to ecollegepc.com or build it yourself. Building it yourself can save a ton of money if you're patient and look for good deals. You don't even need a top of the line PC to play all the newest games. A $800 computer should be more than enough for a few years.

Is living in another country and going back and forth reason enough?Giantevilhead wrote...

Every time somebody says "I do not believe in macs," a mac user somewhere drops down dead; though I hear that they can be revived by clapping your hands. I loathe, despise and abhor macs from the depths of my soul, if you hadn't guessed.
A good place to go for a gaming laptop is Factor Gaming. All of their laptops are fully customisable and upgradeable, and right now they're running a $200 discount on everything.
