Since the Reapers completely transformed the Prothean's DNA into the Collectors, I have a feeling that Vigil read the life signs of the Protheans 'DNA' maybe as deceased, but really the Collectors are just chilling, playing poker, waiting for the Reapers to tell them something. No, the collectors don't have a homeworld. Unless you consider Sagittarius A a homeworld.

Well no since scanning their DNA is how you find out that they're Protheans, if you can do it then Vigil could do it.

Exactly, but the reason I came up with the OP is because since Vigil was so broken, maybe, MAYBE he couldn't do it.

How could Vigil remotely scan DNA if it didn't know where to look?
