I don't understand why either of these characters are willing to risk (or sacrifice) their lives for this cause. The way the game plays it out, no one thinks you are coming back from this mission. You are GOING to die (of course you don't). So explain to my what motivates Jack and Zaeed to go?
Zaeed is a merc. Cerberus is paying him. But even if they promised him 100 TRILLIAN credits he is probably not coming back! Obviously he isn't doing this out of the goodness of his heart and he isn't stupid yet here he is. Locked and loaded to fly into the Omega4 relay that no one has ever come back from. Not sure the risk is worth the reward if you are a merc for hire in this case...
So much of Jack's life has been about survival. Surviving against all odds. Each time she kills someone is improves her chances of survival. Well going on a suicide mission doesn't seem like a very good idea then does it? She doesn't care about humanity, or the universe, or shepard (until later maybe) why would she risk her life for this cause? I know you could argue in the big picture this will actually help her survival but I don't see Jack as a person who sees it that way.
Other characters do it because they are good at heart, because they want to be a hero, because they want to follow shepard. But why these two?
Why are Jack/Zaeed With You?

Zaeed simply because everyone has their price, and TIM clearly found Zaeed's price.

It's implied that Zaeed found the blue suns leader who's name I forget because of information given to him by TIM, so if you help him kill him he's greatly indebted to you and Cerberus, if you stop to save people then it makes less sense.

I get Zaeed. His entire life has become a quest for revenge. Your assistance or even just the intel is all he wants anymore. Jack? Jack is trickier.

Zaeed says this very directly in fact.
Jack helps because you have information she wants. Thats her price. She wants the kind of closure you can only get with explosives. Plus I think she may be dying and knows it. If you read the description on her implant upgrade it mentions how her nervous system is degenerating.

Not in agreement there. There is no reason for Zaeed to sacrifice his life just because he finally got revenge. He did plenty of work in his life that had nothing to do with Vido. Zaeed is in it for the money and the action both of which he will lose if he dies.

Zaeed has taken plenty of "suicide missions" before.
He's both incredibly confident in his ability to come out of any mission alive, and very comfortable with the prospect of his own death.

Jack's in it because she doesn't care about living or dying --> she says it at one point in one of the shipboard conversations that dying is easy, like flipping a switch. Jack's a thrill-junkie and just wants to be a part of a heckuva lot of destruction. After all, hanging out with you and your potential to blow things up has gotta be better than when she committed vandalism by ramming a turian space station into a hanar moon. ("That was a good one.")

Zaeed gets a paycheck and Jack gets even with Cerberus.

Zaeed... don't really know.
Jack is willing to because she wants the Cerberus information. When you help her destroy the base it gives her the revenge she wanted since being a child. If you are paragon Shepard and pursue her as a love interest then she wants to help you all the more (because she loves you).

Remember near the end when TIM tells Shepard "you're the greatest leader I've ever seen" or something to that effect?
And at the beginning when Miranda stresses Shepard's importance on the grounds that people "will follow him, he's a hero, a bloody icon".
Shepard is a leader of men and women, he is taking the same risks they are, and sticks his neck out for his crew.
There's a reason why the Alliance Council tries to keep him out of the public eye. He's that guy that people will follow.

Forget money or files in all seriousness if they learned about the Reapers and everything that was going on why the hell would they not come. They are supposedly some of the best in the Galaxy and what good is it to not try and stop the Collectors. If the Collectors would have defeated Shepard then the Reapers plan would have unfolded and they would all die anyway.

Zaeed, has been a mercenary for 20+ years, so risking his life is nothing new. He was given a HUGE payment to go on the mission, and since he has survived everything, even a shot in the face, he really doesn't believe that he is going to die. That belief is the reason he can do what he does, because if he felt he would die, he would make mistakes and die, but believing he is "immortal" allows him to do things and survive because he just does it and doesn't worry about the future.

Jack, sure she acts tough and all that, but only because she more or less has to be that way. I don't really think she wants to be that way. She could see this as an opportunity to change, or maybe she joined just to find out where Pragia was.
I can't imagine it would be hard getting anyone to join your team. I mean, you are fighting to save the galaxy from certain destruction.

Thrillseekers.
Zaeed gets paid for it, but he attacked a Turian warship with 5 men, and countless other "suicide" missions. Dying is just one possibility, one that doesn't particularly bother him. He doesn't use money to have a comfortable life of luxury. I get the feeling that money is his way of keeping score, not making a nest egg for retirement.
Jack loves to blow things up. She crashed a space station into a moon as revenge, but mostly because she wanted to know if she could do it. She stole a warship during a parade. She ran with gangs, was involved in piracy and kidnapping. Her way of escaping her violent past is to fight on her terms, not anyone else's.
And that is before their loyalty mission. Once they are loyal, impressed by Shepard's natural leadership and charisma, they become devoted to the man. They would follow him into hell because it's going to be the biggest furball this side of the galactic rim, and Shepard has a good chance of getting out alive. If they don't, well, it was a good fight.

I think Zaeed initially joins up for the chance to finally kill Vido... and for the bag of credits. But in my playthrough, he didn't get to kill Vido. So I don't know why he stayed after that. Maybe because he knew it'd be another 20 years before he'd get Vido again, so might as well just get the credits so it's not a complete loss. Eventually, I get the impression that it dawns on him that the Collectors and Reapers is beyond anything else he's ever done.
Jack joins because she wants information on Cerberus so she can find a way to hurt them. Instead, she finds a sense of closure. Then I suppose she feels like she owes you. Or maybe she finds Shepherd incredibly hot. I dunno.
