Don't won't it and don't like it that way. Think it should have the option be it either live chat or email response.

Bad costumer service I say.

I just went to http://support.ea.com/app/ask where they give you the option of either live chat or E-Mail. I don't like live chat so I used E-Mail and gave them my Mass Effect CD Key saying I was wondering how to redeem/recover my key for the "Bring Down the Sky" DLC and within 4 minutes I had a response with a new key for BDtS that worked perfectly.

I'm not saying everyone will get a response as fast but hopefully you will all get a response that is able to help, as I did.

Cain-- what version of Mass Effect do you have? Through EA or Steam? (I'm wondering if I'm not getting a key because my version is steam and it won't "register" through EA's origin services. Almost afraid that I may have to pay a second copy of Mass Effect through Origin just to get the cd key for Bring Down the Sky x_x)

I had no trouble getting BDTS for my Steam copy some time ago, back before the old forum/account system was hacked and then taken off-line. Not knowing your CD key might be a problem if EA's going to refuse to give you a BDTS key without first receiving your ME1 key. But it being a Steam CD key should not be a problem as far as I know.

EA was great for me. Never saved my BDtS-key (because of the site) and I got that almost instantly. They even gave me a new PS-key. (I bought that one with a second EA-account when Wendy's gave you coupons to get it for free, but I don't know which e-mail I used for that :P.) In short: EA was great :).

I don't understand why the DLC even requires an additional CD-key, just let it be the original one that came with Mass Effect.

Took about 4 minutes to grab a new one from a helpful customer service dude. Mighta been my original, even. But it didn't show up in the game config-er. Easy replacement, at least.

I'm having the same problem with my license key and Bring Down The Sky. I purchased Mass Effect from the Origin store and also picked up Pinnacle Station. Both installed fine but I was asked for a license key when began installing BDtS. I'm on a live chat with an EA support rep but said although the company's aware of the problem they don't have a resolution at the moment.

Is this true? I figured I'd ask here since I'm sure there is a solution.

It depends on which rep you get. Some are clueless, others know what to do, and will grant you the key. All we can suggest is try again a bit later and hope you dont get the same muppet.

Thanks for the reply.  Sounds like I got two muppets this morning (one thru Origin on-line chat and the other at EA).  To be fair the EA rep tried her damndest to help but even her supervior was clueless about BDtS's CD key requirement.  She suggested I e-mail BioWare directly, which I did, but I don't think they'll be able to help.

I'll follow your suggestion and try again this afternoon.  Pray that I don't get another muppet Posted Image.

I just got the code from a helpful EA rep thru chat at their support site.  I'll have to wait until I get home to try it out (at work right now).  Thanks to everyone for their help!

I was just informed by EA chat support that my CD key which I purchased on 8/2/09 from Gamestop is 'invalid' even though it's the same key I played and used with the DLC before.
Thanks, EA. Now I don't know if I'll bother buying ME3.

You'll have to get a new one to install Bring Down The Sky if that's what you're referring to.  A new key can be obtained via live chat with a customer support.

Perhaps I should've been more clear.  They told me my original ME1 key was invalid, which I was trying to give to them in live chat to ask for a new DLC key.

Use your phone or digital camera to take a snapshot of the disk, box and contents, upload to an image hosting site such as photobucket or imageshack, and give the url or the image to the support rep as proof of purchase.
Also, as has been mentioned many times in this thread if you had bothered reading, you occasionally get a muppet of a support rep who doesnt know what they are doing. Try again later on and hope you get one who does.

Unfortunately my copy was a digital download only, I suppose I could take a picture of the email with my key, but I'm not sure that'd help. ;)   I suppose you have a point about the possibly clueless support rep though.. thanks :)  I'll give it another try later.

If you bought the game from Steam, you can navigate to "C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\mass effect", launch the file: MassEffectLauncher.exe, then when its up, click on "Game", and your product key should be displayed. then just download the installer from http://masseffect.bi...nthesky_pc.html and it should work. I'm just restating this for anyone on Steam, or is still having the problem and can't find it, and didn't get help from EA I guess. Just figured this out on my own, thought it'd be helpful.

You might want to edit that so it says "masseffectconfig.exe" instead of the launcher, otherwise, people might get confused. ;)

The DLC needs a different key than the game key itself, or so I was led to believe.
