Having the exact same problem, followed Astera's links, still isn't working for me at all. I enter in the code and it just says the installation has been cancelled.  And EA customer service has been no help. Yay!

As soon as I re-downloaded your link, blocked all my firewalls, and tried the code, it worked! At long last! Thank you so much, Astera, this issue had been racking my brains for several months!

It doesn't work for me. It states that the maximum number of activations for the cd key has been reached =\\

Edit: I contacted EA live support and afterwords it worked. Very fast resolution. I suggest everyone having trouble to do the same. The link to EA live support is:

Yep, just got one from there too. Now I'm just deciding whether to play it now or not. I've a new computer on order, should appear any day now, so I'm thinking of waiting until I've got that so I can have a nice smooth gameplay experience instead of the sometimes annoyingly low frame rate that I get from my laptop (currently the only thing I can play it on).

 I have the Mass Effect Game (original, bought in Steam). I have downloaded the Bring Down the Sky DLC but i can´t get the Key to install it. All the forums have changed so now i don´t have anyway to register my Mass Effect game in order to get the DLC key. ¿Could someone from EA support send a Key to my email account or something? My email is sunnovabitz@hotmail.com. I appreciate it. Thanks

I take it that BDtS will not work if you have already completed the game. Mine installed fine, but can't play it, as you can't get back to the CiC.

So i contacted EA live support and got the code from them.
Although i seem to get an error (no code?). This appears regardless of my firewall, but if i press ignore; the installation is proceeding. I suspect i lose something important, but i'm not sure. Is this normal or is there anything else i should've taken into account?

i have win 7 64 bit and called ea support got a link to download and a key from them. Im guessing they auto generate from their end. I installed with no issues except saying win 7 saying it didnt install correctly. However i got that for all the dlc content for me2 and i didnt have any issues with any of those. I really just got it for the patch since my configuration tool kept crashing and heard it would fix it. Everything looks good now

ok this dont work anymore...ME1 is registered, but does not show up on the page for bringing down the sky....and can not find the cd key needed anymore.

I realize I'm a little late to this party, so I have to ask. What's the most recent(and/or best) way of getting a CD Key for it that works without really having to go through a load of stuff?

"Mass Effect is not found" I keep getting this message, and all my searches keep telling me things about CD keys. I'm not at the part where it wants a CD key. I'm just trying to get the installer to run!

I downloaded bdst with the link provided by Astera and entered the universal key, but when the installer was saying "verifying license file" i got an error saying "the game cannot start - there appears to be a problem contacting the license server. Ensure your internet connection is active and try again in a few minutes".

My internet connection is definitely active and i've been trying again for half an hour. I've tried deactivating my firewall but that made no difference.

Any ideas, anyone?

I was having the same problem and I guessed that maybe because I had the 1.02 patch already installed, it might be a problem. So I reinstalled the game and ran the bring down the sky installer before applying the patch and it worked. Hopefully it'll help you.
