Indeed, I JUST put this code in as well 3FLL-43UU-JTN8-W8EX-25J3. It worked.
I didn't even disable my firewall or virus protection.

Thanks for this key, i've tried to find the old cd-key page in the depths of my bioware account for like an eternity until i found out that it didnt exist anymore <_<

I've tried redeeming the promo code (cd key?) for this DLC and no dice. I'm referring to this so called "Universal Key" on the wikia. Don't know about you all but not working here.

Why do EA/ Origin / Bioware make it impossible to contact real people???
It is absolutely rubbish...- All i want to do is download the "bring down the sky" content for Mass effect 1 - and they have to make it impossible to do so;-- Games are great - support is awful! help pls

Additional note:
It will not let me register my Copy of MassEffect 1, yet i have options for ME2,ME3,Dragonage... and ME1 [as in Mirrors edge]

I purchased mass effect 1 for the PC when it first came out and registered the product key for the BDtC DLC. Since then the disc has ceased to function. so i purchased a new copy of the game from the Origin store. Will I be able to register this new product key or will i have to contact EA support directly first?

24 hours with no official response = annoying, but still acceptable
48 hours with no official response= no more ea/origin or bioware purchases from me

@ whodareswins- you should not have to purchase a game twice unless you broke the disc [via neglect or poor care].

WHERE did you connect to EA Help?  In here, this forum, doesn't count.

I emailed EA Help and received a prompt reply just a few hours later. Not bad. Unfortunately the code provided was the same universal code already posted here and it still has the activation limit. Guess I'll be trying the Live chat.

I also tryed the universal code but i says i reached my limit for activation so i send an email to EA Support and they responded that they increased my limit so i tryed to install it again but still it says i reached my limit.

I've tried a bunch of these "universal keys" with no luck but I just tried the one leonides63 posted above and it worked randomly and installed successfully!

Now time to replay ME1 and 2!
