EA
wouldnt tell you to deal with Bioware, as EA provide official support
for the game. Do you mean they told you to get in contact with Steam?

Steam are the only noes providing dodgy product keys at the moment, as
the copies of the game you purchase from EA, or from a physical store,
do not have this problem.

No kidding, thank you for saving me 2 hours to find this patch.

Bioware, could you please provide a link to this patch so we can play the game?

If you have the Steam version, it should already be patched. If not Steam, then the link on page 1 of this thread will have what you need.

Hi, I gotten my game from Steam, and I completed the game once but have not encountered this, is there a way of checking on whether i have the DLC or not? If not then how can i get it?

I've just installed ME on a win 7 64 bit and BtDs refused to install. The installer cancelled after I put in the key. Following a suggestion, I downloaded the DLC from fileplanet. The first DLC was downloaded from Bioware which did not work properly. The DLC version from fileplanet installed without a hitch.

I'm getting the error 102 as well, using a version bought through Steam. And despite the Me2 consequences, I'm seriously considering just not bothering now. This is the first time I've had anywhere near this much trouble with DLC.

(Also, I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 and for all that Microsoft has a majority market share and 64-bit operating systems are becoming the norm, I'm used to things just not working.)

If the assignments aren't showing in your journal or on the galaxy map and you haven't already completed them, then you don't have the DLC. You have to use the links to get it, but have fun - it hates Steam's CD keys.

You can try andtake it up with EA, but depending on the rep you get, they might grant you a new key, or they might tell you to take it up with Steam. Ultimately, it is a Steam problem, as they are the only ones who are issuing nicorrect keys at this time. If they refuse to play ball, take it up with the relevant Consumer Rights group in your area.

Hi guys, I was wondering if I got the game on Steam can I also download the stand alone BDtS and install it? It won't mess with the steam install of the original game?

I just contacted EA using the live chat function on the support page. I described my problem (being unable to register my steam CDkey on the Bioware website) and the support rep simply provided me with a BDtS CDkey. It worked like a charm!

Thank you i would have spent a long time trying to find the right link forBDTS. I tried a few but they all linked to mass Effect 2 and were no use.

Credit to Bioware for releasing BDTS but they could have made it easier to find.

Pardon me, as I'm new here, but is anyone else having issues getting the Bring Down content? I've followed the links in the original post and they all take me to the BioWare website homepage where I am unable to find any way to get a key for Bring Down the Sky. Any help would be appreciated.

Follow the links in this order.
4th link (create an account on the old forums)
5th link (register your game on old site in order to be granted a BDtS product key)
3rd link (to be taken to the BDtS download page)

Bogsnot, while I do appreciate your advice, it didn't work. Clicking the 4th and 5th links from the original post just takes me straight to http://www.bioware.com . I am unable to find/access any old forums. I tried using the social.bioware site to register my copy, but ME1 isn't on the list. Any other ideas anyone?

Sorry mate, I gave that advice before I found out that the old site has been taken down and redirected to the current ME website. All I can suggest now is to contact EA's support, and see if they can help you. Better off using their Live Chat function, instead of email, as you will get a quicker response.

Having the same Issue as Radnar, I'm on the phone with EA right now and it seems like they no longer issue keys for that add on, and you can no longer register the game >=(
They did however offer to give me the Pinnacle Station for free, too bad I already purchased it and just want Bring down the sky =(
Let me know if you have any better luck

So, here's the skinny on the current availability of Bring Down the Sky. The short answer is, you can't get it anymore. The longer answer is: I spent quite a while on the Live Chat with EA reps. The first rep gave me a BDtS key, which didn't work. I entered it and constantly got an "Installation Canceled" message. My chat was escalated when this happened and the 2nd Rep was unable to solve the issue. So, no BDtS for me (or anyone else, for that matter). I also asked why it wasn't available and here I'll quote the chat-rep:

" Daniel R.: I am sorry but it appears that this content is no longer available because the website to register Mass Effect is no longer up
ME: So, even having downloaded the software and having gotten a key from you guys, it's still futile?
Daniel R.: You need a key for that DLC and we do not have that available. I am sorry for any inconvenience
ME: Well, that's really unfortunate. Is there any reason why you guys aren't offering the DLC anymore?
Daniel R.: Part of the issue is that Mass Effect 1 came out before EA purchased Bioware"

The upshot for me is that they were nice enough to give me $20 credit to the Origin store.

Thanks again to Bogsnot, and to Malecite, sorry that you won't be able to get BDtS.

Apologies for the double-post, but after some trawling around, I found a link to a very helpful forum post:

http://social.biowar...index/1942301/1

This post talks about the "Installation Canceled" problem I was having. I followed the steps and used the key that the EA rep gave me (mentioned in my previous post) and it worked perfectly. So, if you are able to get a key from EA, you just might also have a shot at being able to use BDtS.

Best of luck!

Hmm I tried again and they say they can't give me a key becayse they have none, which obviously isnt true.
They did give me a key for the other add on game earlier today and yeah also the $20 certificate, but sadly no BDTS =(
Maybe I will try again tomorrow, thanks!

I'm not certain that everyone's out of luck. Rather, let's say that it seems to involve a lot of hurdle jumping and luck if you don't already have a key. I was just lucky that an EA rep gave me one and then even more fortunate to find that forum post that details a work-around if the BDtS cancels your install due to not recognizing your key.

Your not out of luck guys, just talk to EA Support. I just did tonight via Live Chat and as soon as I mentioned what the problem was, I was quickly handed a CD Key for Bringing Down the Sky.

Don't forget that the links for both BDtS and the patch, and probably for the game registration had been on the Legacy Forums, which were the target of hackers yesterday. 18,000 accounts were compromised, and most of the old URLs were all remapped very suddenly. The majority of what is stored on those older systems continues to be inaccessible for about the past 36 hours or so.
