Does anyone else feel like the Sole Survivor Shepard did not get his due. Granted that War Hero and Ruthless didn't really get anything beyond a news report either, but Sole Survivor is so much more relevant in this game. Cerberus is responsible for the death of his whole unit. I understand that all life as we know it is on the line and we should put the past aside, but it seems like the Sole Survivor should have had a lot more to say to TIM.

Yes. It was a glaring error, especially because IIRC Sole Survivor is the default background. It'd be nice to see some resolution of this in an expansion pack or (more likely) ME3, but I doubt it's coming in any case.

My Paragon Shepard is a sole survivor. I kind of compensate for it by being as mistrusting towards Cerberus as possible.

There's a lot of that in ME2, where they played it way too safe, aka past characters act the same whether you romanced them or not; Characters act the same whether you're a male or female, beside who wants to **** you; Characters do the same thing whether you treated them good or bad; Character don't really care about your history, etc. It's kind of sad when you think about it.

Yup.  Part of why I'm going to be waiting for the reviews for ME3 and not buying it on pre-order.

You do get that e-mail from Toombs (if you have an import game) where he's very pissed off that you betray your ideals by joining Cerberus.

i certainly had a problem.

i spent most of the game wanting to send miranda out an airlock. i wouldve blown TIM away given the option.

telling him to screw off will have to do

It seems like the background is almost completely unimportant in ME3. A shame; I really enjoyed the side mission with Corporal Tombs in ME1.

I don't think they forgot about it. Shepard just has to work with Cerberus to stop the Collectors abducting people and stop the Reapers. Cerberus has the resources he needs (e.g. the Normandy) and they brought him back to life.

My Paragon Shepard also got the angry email from Toombs.

You could just not play the game, and pretend your Shepard dramatically yelled "I'll never join you!" before throwing him/herself out an airlock.

Also, you have to remember, they can only alter the storyline so much per background/decision you make without it being ridiculous amounts of extra work for them. Yeah, they could have added another side mission, I think, but otherwise, you can't really expect them to give much more than a news report with how many decisions from ME1 had to be carried over.

You could also romance Miranda and Jack and then choose the intergalatic Suicide Girl over daddy's little bio-engineered princess.

Indeed, which is why when I eventually get around to writing the ME2 portion of my fic, Shepard will have more to say than "Woo, new Normandy!"

Agree with you OP.

But then again, it is the worst background ever. "Your the only one left to tell the tale", so what could BW really do. Cerberus is the focus now, they rebuild Shepard and gave him/her a new ship.

I gues Shepard could just have said to TIM "goto hell, i know what you did on Akuze", then exit the room!. Game Over!. =p

Lol, that would have been a pretty short game :P

But to be honest, I totally forgot it was Cerberus' doing. Obviously Shepard wouldn't forget such a thing as it was his life, but I think Bioware overlooked that detail, as I did

I would have been happy with one extra choice of dialogue at any point of this game. When any member of my crew is telling me why they joined Cerberus and how they're really not that bad, I'd like to be able to say "You know they fed my entire unit to a thresher maw on Akuze just to see what would happen right?"

Its especially glaring as Miranda and Jacob ASK you what happened on Akuze, but you get no option to tell them that it was Cerberus's fault

In the shuttle immediately after the Lazarus project station at the beginning of the game.

I was under the impression that the Akuze incident and experiments were not sanctioned by Cerberus but part of a...."rogue" Cerberus element, sort of like the facility that housed Jack.

After you meet up with Miranda and are on your way to meet TIM for the first time. They ask about your origin, who you left on Virmire, and who you appointed as councilor.

No, we could point out a flaw in the game about how it's characters are portrayed unrealistically.  It's not too much to ask that the in-game universe be consistent, and it's pretty pathetic of you to insult others for criticizing an incorrect decision by the game developers who you seem to worship as infallible gods and take their words as gospel.

lol. So lame. "You mean when your pro-human organization fed a bunch of humans to a thresher maw? Yeah I'm still bitter about it."

The only real problem with this is that the Dev team took many opportunities to state that they really looked forward to the challenge of doing just that - working on the all those different ways things could play out. Unfortunately it doesnt show up that well within the game in many cases. They (in my opinion) spent too much time on other things that they just did not have any time to spend on that aspect. At the end of the day its these small details that most of us are looking at and shaking our heads at and wondering how did that get past all that QA that BioWare says it had in place?
