You get that regardless if you talked him down. It may be more detailed if you're a Sole Survivor, though.LoweGear wrote...
You do get that e-mail from Toombs (if you have an import game) where he's very pissed off that you betray your ideals by joining Cerberus.

Nobody cares. Stop whining. Joker and Chakwas wanted to do something productive against the real threat to the galaxy, and the Alliance wasn't giving them that option. Cerberus made the offer to actually do something, and then came through on that offer. Without Cerberus, the events of Mass Effect 2 wouldn't even be happening. Get over it and wait until after the galaxy is no longer being threatened by robotic Lovecraftian leviathans to cry about how the only organization willing to help you killed some innocent people. You can't save the galaxy by being butthurt about how Cerberus is a bunch of meanies.

Replacing the food stores with Turian ingredients...spitting in Miranda's boots before a mission...
Ah yes, and letting the Collectors abduct, and keep, the Cerberus crew.
"Our methods may be harsh, but Cerberus has noble motives!"
Keep telling yourself, that, Kelly. Maybe it'll keep you warm when you're being turned into a ****ing Reaper.

My reaction: "%&^@%&%!!!"
Followed by irritation. I'd already thought my super paragon Shep didn't have nearly enough bad things to say about Cerberus, being reminded that Cerberus was also responsible for the defining tragedy in her life just made it worse. I understand that Shepard had to work with Cerberus in order for the story to proceed. Hell, I LIKE that Shepard was forced to work with the enemy, but we should have gotten a real chance to call Cerberus out for all the things they were responsible for. Akuze, Kahoku and his marines, all those random colony worlds overrun by Rachni/Creepers/Geth. The game hardly touched on it, and it was completely immersion breaking.

Honestly, I DID forget about Akuze, or rather Cerberus's role in it. It had been so long since I'd played my Sole Survivor, I'd forgotten the detail about it being Cerberus behind the whole thing. Then I got the angry message from Toombs, I stared at it blankly for a moment or two before it clicked in my head.

Except I had just played ME1 again right before starting ME2...So it was really jarring right away.

I would have much rather BioWare worked on these things than throwing Conrad Verner in the game. It is the difference between true continuity and mere continuity nods.

I seriously start thinking that default renegade background for ME 2 is a big offence for all ME 1 paragon players.
During my whole ME 2 runs i found only ONE LINE during dialog whit Jacob when he reveals who revived my Shepard where my full Paragon Shepard was able to say "I don't work whit terrorists."
Later on there is not a single chance to show Timmy middle finger...
Really maybe it;'s time for Bioware to issue OFFICIAL APOLOGY for forcing paragon players to work whit most hated within galaxy organization WITHOUT SINGLE CHANCE TO SAY "NO I WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU!!!".
Somehow i start to assuming that ME 2 lead writer was hardcore Renegade Cerberus lover (that's would explain default renegade start ) and because of that Paragon players are stripped from any chance until Collector base to break that FORCED COOPERATION (heck i am surprised that after all this is possible there).
I think first opportunity to quit work for Cerberus should be after Collector ship, but i really hope that ME 3 will give Shepard chance to redeem her honor within Alliance and Council and not to be forced to become fugitive rogue Spectre hunted by combined Alliance and Citadel forces shadowing by Cerberus death squads...

A bunch of meanies, really? Thats how you would describe the organization responsible for killing 50 Alliance Marines. A meanie is some one who steals your juice box on the playground. I don't think meanie is the word for it.
I enjoyed this game immensely when I played it with the War Hero, and Ruthless Shepards, but don't give us a a background story like Sole Survivor and not acknowledge its significance when it is so blatantly relevant.

1) Jacob and Miranda asking about Akuze.
2) Ashley/Kaiden questioning my loyalty to the Alliance.
3) All the crew members who try to down play Cerberus's dark past.
4) Every conversation with TIM
5) Miranda telling me I should consider forgiving Cerberus.
The fact that Shepard never expresses his anger towards Cerberus in any of these conversations drives me crazy and makes it very hard to play the Sole Survivor Shepard.
This.
I am not against having to work with Cerberus. What does drive me crazy is that the game makes Shepard sound like some cloze-minded fanatic who is easily put off by a *few dark rumors* whenever s/he questions Cerberus. Despite the fact that Shepard's issues with that organisations come not from rumors, but from personal experience.
The lack of ability to remaind about Akuze to those of Normandy's Cerberus crew who seem to be not aware of the true nature of their organization is also frustrating. For example, telling that engineer who got in trouble because he respected Shepard too much: "By the way, you know that Cerberus killed my whole unit and damn near killed me?" would be priceless.

He's a skilled killing machine, and a leader at that. Even in ME1, in the condition he was in, he managed to organize a large mercenary band, along with an intel network, to track down and Kill every single scientist that was involved in the Akuza experiments. Multiple Alliance and Cerberus Installations were attacked, security cut down with no witnesses.
If there was ever a man that I'd need at my side right now, it would've been him. And all i got was an email, that i couldnt even reply to. That Crushed Me.
Even GTAIV gave us the option to reply positively or negatively to emails we got!

Does anyone else feel like the Sole Survivor Shepard did not get his due. Granted that War Hero and Ruthless didn't really get anything beyond a news report either, but Sole Survivor is so much more relevant in this game. Cerberus is responsible for the death of his whole unit. I understand that all life as we know it is on the line and we should put the past aside, but it seems like the Sole Survivor should have had a lot more to say to TIM.
Yep it is like the writers forgot about that little plot in ME2. I thought it was weird I could ask Miranda about Jack and the Thorian and Husks and so forth but I could never ask about the Thresher Maw experiments.
I mean even if you were not a Sole Surivivor, Cerberus still almost killed Shepard during the Admiral Kohaku quest where they basically do Akuze pt. 2.

Or something like that, 3 extra lines of dialog and we know that Shep is putting his animosity aside for the sake of the mission
Also while writing this it occured to me that Shepard doesn't know about colonist abductions so maybe this conversation should take place between him and the Illusive man to better justify not addressing it... but it needs to be addressed, it is inhuman for someone not to voice something of this magnitude. Cerberus didn't slap him in the face, they killed his whole unit, HIS FRIENDS, of all the complaints about ME2 most are valid, but this one was just frustrating because it could easily be rectified.

What they should have done is let you address it when Jacob and Miranda quiz you about... Sole Shep should have an option that would go (in a Renegade but not voerly angry tone) "Seriously? I wasn't the only one to survive ono Akuze, just the only one not experimented on by Cerberus scientists... your employer. You want my help, steer clear of that topic otherwise I may change my mind and burn this organization to the ground like I planned prior to my death and subsequent Cerberus resurrection..." (Miranda and Jacob get uncomfortable) and Miranda goes "Uh yes, well we were not actually aware of that as Cerberus operates in seperate autonomous cells... our cell was responsible for bringing you back..." and then Shepard interrupts with "Drop it, my past is my past, I assume you brought me back for a reason, I'd like to know what that is and take care of business. Whatever grievance I have with your organization can be dealt with after I speak with your Illusive Man"
Or something like that, 3 extra lines of dialog and we know that Shep is putting his animosity aside for the sake of the mission

Exactly, this is something that could have been cleared up with a few extra choices of dialogue in conversations that are already in the game.
While the graphics and gameplay of ME2 feel polished to a sheen the story does not. This is an RPG and I care a lot more about the story.
