Thats EXACTLY what they meant..it was stated he was a favorite of the Awakening team.   We only found out the meaning of "an old returning favorite" after the fact.

Nope, Oghren, is very likely to be shoved back in the "Party I couldn't care less about" Section just like in Origins, atleast then he was joined by Zevran and Liliana, and on the odd occasion Sten.

I don't mind Oghren returning. Not exactly as favourite o' mine (but still a better choice then Morrigan or Sten). Like stated here, dwarves are a cool race (and somehow always have been). But I still have that eerie, ominous feeling that the writers still would prefer to have either Morrigan, Flemeth or Anora (or something evenly wicked) return just for story sake.

Nope, he's not exactly my favorite, but I did find him hilarious at times, especially in his banters with Morrigan.

I'm going to miss the old Fantastic Four: my PC, Zevran, Alistair and Morrigan.

Oghren was a boring drunk... I don't like dopefiends and drunkards in real life, not more fun ingame really! Drugs *alcohol IS one* DOES really kill yer braincells yes...
Sten is very narrow... Quite boring, actuallly THE most boring imo... "I am Qunari and I am male, and the world is rigid!" *yaaaaawn get a mind of yer own ye *******
Alistair is a whiney little "dropped once to often as a baby" toddler, who wants everything to go HIS way or he gets a tantrum and leaves... *rolls eyes*
Zhevran is an over the top slimey fop... Thinks he's all that while being a dungsleaze...
Wynne is a boring old grandmom who think she's always right and can judge anyone and everyone...
Leliana is a hypocritical selfrighteous fanatic who have serious stalkerissues, klinda cute though and a naughty little minx (that'd be good, not bad)...
Morrigan is lying through the whole game... She hates any good deeds even if done for an evil reason, if it has a good aspect it's foolish... *yawn* But..... Meow! She's got a mind of her own and... Yeah she's a looker defo... (Hey, I'm a guy, I have hormones yeknow)

The only one without bad boring sides'd be Dog...
And he's got personality too!

But if I have to have a talking companion returning for the expansion, Oghren is as good as any... ^^

He was the last person I got and I didn't have him in my party at all aside from the Paragon mission. By the time I got him I already had everyone else so built up that he was just...there. So I guess I'm ok with him coming back. Perhaps I'll give him a shot in Awakening.

thats actually the reason the devs want him back too... that and he was supposidly very popular amongst the office.

He's always the last one I pick up but I do quite like him. I didn't even talk to him my first couple of plays unless I had to, but I decided to give him all the obscure gifts I'd horded in my last run, including all the alcohol from the start, and I was supprised how cool he was. I still didn't put him in my group because that was the run I was trying sten out and it didn't seem worth swapping, but I'm quite happy he's in awakening, he'd be my first non-romance pick of the old group, if only because his presence makes more sense than any of the other non-romances, and more than some of them come to think of it.
