I finally got the game from Wal-Mart which it was on sale for 29.99, after i played it for three hours and gotta say it kinda hard. Anyway i didnt like that game, previous NWN and NWN2 was good but i was looking for better engine to control the characters without having to tell them or controlling them at all time. Let the AIs control the characters while you control your.

I tried to post this on toolkit/creation on world, but it wouldnt let me. What i was looking for is a game running between Dungeon Siege and Oblivion. Games like Two Worlds and others arent quite good, not easy to find a good epic roleplaying games. Risen wasnt so bad, but lack of weight conversions, character building and item durability. Gothic 3 look cool but hardwares is very picky what and how it runs, couldnt run that game on newer machines esp Vista. The Germans never updated their games and moving on to next stage (Gothic4) it look impressive, but lol having all that heavy armors on and running wild is kinda lame. There no realism there, pretty much samn as Gothic3.

Now i heard that players and fans can use the toolkit to customise the world as well other features. The question is can i (we) make a content that can free roam where ever we like to go? Without having a spawn point and didnt like the story about the game itself, esp placing items and traps behind you after you walked pass it already.

Also noticed someone or group is working on Baldur's Gate, a remaking the story and/or world of faerun. Sure hope there a way to roam around all we want without having to warp out/in to different places unless i stepped on the warp pads.

Please dont flame this thread, if you got something important to say and share some details, let hear it :)

It's talent, time and imagination that set the limit of what you can do with the toolset. the game limitations isn't that much of a obstacle. the few there is can be taken into consideration while expanding your modding progress. and Gothic 3 isn't a good game. the combat and all the bug ruins it.

the open world style is however good,

however you must like working with the toolset alot more then playing games. or you will never get done.

That is true, i have worked with toolset for NWN and NWN2, but i wasnt happy with it either due to mounts, lack of monsters, swimming and other things. More monster models and traveling mounts would be really nice. So i havent check out the toolset yet, i wanted to hear from you guys and see if that is possible. I wouldnt mind build world of faerun, wasnt sure how big i can make it or what is that limit.

Even if i (we) succeed doing this, still alot of other features that is needed, mounts, calendar to keep track of day, to make it more realistic as possible. I would very much like to make something that can last for along time from a young child to old hero if he/she manage to live long enough.

no need for calendar. DA doesn't have a time cycle. no moving sun or dynamic light cycle. there is no mounts either and the tools for making them quite isn't ready yet. so it will take a while more before new custom creature models will appear. also aim smaller. you should be happy if you can do one tiny bit of faerun. oh and there is no seamless transitions so open worlds are only possible in the BG style.

It doesnt, aww that really sad. I hope things will get better later on like expansions perhap to improve the toolkit and the game itself.

the expansions won't remove those things. you will get more creatures but i doubt there will be mounts. the best you can hope for is that DA2 along those lines.
