Zaeed is literally a Shepard that takes checks.

And he DOES have dialogue, check out the various things around his room, or listen to him tell his stories about the stuff he did, sure its not "Hi, how is calibrating going" "Well its good, let me tell you about this time I committed genocide on the planet Vergon 4, have a seat sonny" "Ok dad" it's still there.

Joker points out that you and Zaeed are very similar if you ask him, post mission with Zaeeed.  I believe it.

And yeah, I saw him like an "evil dad".  He was nice.

And..like...please guys.  Don't say "omg the asari bartender has a chat radial so she's bettar".  Seriously.  He was an addon, DLC, niche, interesting extra.  He wasn't meant to be a main character.  They were mixing it up.  I wish people would appreciate BioWare doing ONE THING different with a character, lol.

Right, there is dialogue, but it only comes from him. That's why I said there's no "two-way" dialogue, meaning Shepard doesn't have any options to speak himself in response to what Zaeed says. In short, there's no conversations between Zaeed and Shepard on the Normandy. Zaeed talks and Shepard listens. That's it.

Oh yeah, as an Australian, I find it hilarious people think it's an aussie accent.

But then, I managed to convince someone who has never been here that I keep a crocodile in my backyard to wrestle, ride a kangaroo around and that a koala is a poisonous killer, so I guess some people are clueless.

Miranda's accent is pretty obviously Aussie, but over here we usually only hear the fancier British accents.

The voice actor (Yvonne Strahovski) is an aussie so Miranda's accent is indeed australian.

People are just to picky. We get this awesome dlc character, he is one of the tops in the game at battles (never died with me). They couldnt make him talk for whatever technical reason or because he was dlc. But after every missions/side quest he had something new to say, some new story. Thats alot more then garrus calibrating for the whole game.

On a side note im sad about garrus, maybe i got him too early but i dont remember him talking at all

I'm not sure what it is, but I just cannot stand Zaeed.  Can't put my finger on it.  I get it, he's a hardcore merc kind of guy, seen a lot of action, supposed to be a bad-ass, but he is not very endearing.  Maybe it's the lack of interaction with the character, maybe it's his total disregard for anything or anyone but himself....heck, maybe it's that Auzzie accent, I dunno.  I'm not saying he's poorly done, I'm just saying I can't stand him.
Anyone else feel this way?

Its not an 'auzzie' accent. Don't you know anything about the larger world?

He has a few different ones to go through. Some are triggered by certain events. And you can click on the rifle, the ship or the krogan helmet for a few more.

But honestly, it's not much less than most squadmates, considering Garrus does nothing but blow you off to finish callibrations after about 3 conversations.

Still, you don't get to have a 2-way talk with him, so it feels like there's less interaction.

Garrus really didn't have much to say, yeh :/

I guess I can forgive him though.  We are 'old friends', and we've both been through a lot lol.

Eh, he might not be the most polite guy in the ship, but at least he doesn't yell "F*CK OFF" at you when his dialogues are over.

Its actually British jeez, cockney to be exact

Though maybe it would be kind of harsh to assume that North Americans (another assumption)  to realise what cockney is. But still I am not impressed

BTW Anderson was born in London.

Sorry....I knew Miri was Aussie, but just took a guess with Zaeed.  Can you all forgive me for such a blatant error? :P

Really?   No comment other then to try and throw a jab?  Don't you know anything about social interaction?

He's my least favourite character (maybe tied with Samara) but I can sympathise with him somewhat. I mean, the guy was shot in the head at point blank range and left for dead. He's Darkman incarnate. In his position, I'd be pretty pissed too. I think that if Garrus has the potential to become like Zaeed, at least, if he was left to simmer in his hatred for 20 years. The main reason I don't like Zaeed is because he's willing to let innocent people die (when it was he who put them at risk in the first place) just to satisfy his need for revenge. I don't know of any other character who would go that far... except maybe Jack during one of her psycho moments.

I think it's the fact that you cannot really converse with him. All you can do is click on him for responses. Sure made me indifferent to him.

I noticed this, too.  He's got new dialogue dropped in after Jack's recruitment and the Collector ships that I noticed.  I forget to check him after some missions so I don't know how extensive it is.

He also has a ton of unique in-mission lines.

Zaeed is awesome.

it is interesting that he has a english accent, looks faily european save for his darker skin. yet, he has an arabic full name. i wonder what the bioware is saying about europe with its populatoon decline and huge influx of immigrants.

i like the dude myself.i like the stuff that he says too. "that's god am suicide" his face graphically as apealling as samaras face because all the nice details and lines. inferno grenade is a nice alternative to mordin's incenerate. that mantis sniper is god-like with npcs too. a squad with garrus and zaeed or thane is total rape even on insanity.

I don't think it's supposed to be a statement about Europe and immigration into Europe, considering that Bioware is based in Canada (which has an immigrant population of 3).

It's probably more to do with the fact that there are 11bn people on Earth in 2185 -- country borders will be less meaningful as people become "Citizens of Earth, united against those alien bastards" as opposed to "Citizens of London, united against those bastards north of the Watford Gap", or something along those lines.

he is a d*ckhead to shepard and everyone else, has absolutely no character development beyond being a d*ckhead, and his loyalty mission only ever re-enforces his d*ckheaded-ness; and to top it all off inferno grenade sucks.

why they felt the need to tack him on is.....beyond me; he offers utterly nothing to the game but a place on the squad screen and some banter.

Zeed annoys me because I have no choices where he is concerned. I can't choose whether or not to stop him from kicking or shooting the captured batarian when I meet him. I can't choose whether or not I want some arrogant twerp in my cargo hold spying on my crew. I can't tell him his stories don't impress me because I've dealt with situations several billion times worse without turning into a bitter evil so-and-so. I can't try to reform him (I play Paragon), as has been the standard in Mass Effect games thus far. The only "choice" I'm given with Zaeed is whether to let some innocent refinery workers slowly burn to death so that we can catch the guy he hates -- and whatever I choose, he'll be happily loyal to me!

No choices, no consequences, no interest. I don't think I can even choose to uninstall the DLC; I've heard it breaks the game.

As for the accent, many Americans do have trouble distinguishing English and Australian accents (apart from the Queen's English). But then, many Brits and Aussies have trouble distinguishing the various American accents. Most people aren't experts in the accents and dialects of other countries. :)

He's a jackass that has become so bitter and twisted that he's lost all rationality. *spoilers* He roasted a ton of factory workers alive and didn't care, or if you save them he treats you with complete and utter contempt until you put a gun to his head and tell him to take his head out his arse *spoilers*. Plus if you are looking for a decent soldier Grunt fills that position with aplomb, I rarely use Zaeed for those reasons. Props to Bioware for making such an obvious c*ntbag character though!

I didn't like Zaeed at first. But, now playing as a infiltrator he's very useful paired with Mordin. And he's sort of grown on me.

On the plus side you can just leave him in Omega. Did that for my second run.
