I have yet another complaint that Liara, the expert on the protheans, was never brought up when it was discovered that the Protheans do in fact still exist, and are being controlled by the Reapers. I mean DUH!!! Think Liara might want to know about that? Think Liara might have a little helpful analysis and input on the situation? How about AT LEAST asking her for her opinion? I mean she's only the formost mind in Prothean history and technology. She had devoted what, most of a hundred years of her life to studying the Protheans? To  just leave her out of an event like this., one which threatens Humanities very existance? I mean, please!!  Sorry, the little episode on Ilium don't cut it. She should've been right in the thick of it!  Weak, weak, weak I tell ya!

Otherwise great game, if  you also overlook the screw up with Tali not being more involved with the questioning of legion which I've alreay stated in another thread.

yeah can you imagine how much cooler it would have been if Liara had been there on the collector ship. definitely a missed opportunity.

I think she is a little busy with the Shadow Broker to be worrying about the Protheans

She was wrapped up in a problem partly of her own doing. It's an important problem, so I can see her justification for not going with Shepard. You can ask her about it the first time you meet her on Illium.

It would have been nice to tell Liara what you learned. Heck it would have been nice to keep Anderson updated on your progress and listen to your thoughts on the matter. It would have been nice to able to contact Ash/Kaidan after Freedom's progress. But no, BioWare has to shove dialog lines that blame us for not doing any of that even though we were not given the opportunity to do so.

"She's consumed by vengeance now! Rawr!"

That's pretty much all Liara is now in ME2.

I agree with you on the Tali thing as well. But I would add in her lack of concern about EDI.

Agreed. Her fascination with the Protheans in ME1 was conspicuously absent in ME2.

So that's more important than saving humanity from total anialation? Ok.

Well if she stopped being interested in the shadow broker, her assistant would kill her...

Yeah.  In the first game she wants to put saving the galaxy on hold so she can download some data.  In the second... WTF's a Prothean?

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed that although the cameos were greatly appreciated, they all felt rather flat. Liara with the Protheans, Ashley not having any contact after I survived the suicide mission and remained loyal, Wrex not having any input about anything unrelated to Tuchunka. The cameos were definitely just that: Cameos.

What's she going to tell you about them?

"Hey why can't we go tell Giana Parasini about that beer we had on the citadel, because she likes beer!"

she doesnt need to come with you; though OP brings up a good point that she would be the kind of expert to recruit; but at the very least we could maybe have a "so here's some collector genetic data; EDI says its heavily modified prothean DNA. pretty cool, huh? any tips on how to kill them?" conversation.

why they chose to sideline everything about liara's character for her brief appearance in ME2...sigh.

Why would she know any more than you about how to kill them?

She's never met one before.

Regardless, this is too important to not at least ask Liara for her expert opinion and any input she might have. She would be beside herself of this news of the Protheans existance. The Shadowbroker would have to take the back seat! This is too big! Sorry, this is an opportunity lost. Can't make up for this major faux paus in part three.

True. True. But not indefensible, I think. Liara has obviously become totally consumed by her new job and her desire to take down the Shadow Broker. Might even say she's a little obsessed. She already turned down one offer to join Shepherd (if you chose that dialogue option when speaking to her on Ilium) so Shepherd may have simply decided it's best to leave her alone. It isn't likely she'd be able to provide any useful information about the Prothean/Collectors that Mordin or EDI couldn't provide, so her involvement wasn't needed.

I find it perfectly believable.  Ask her more about why she's after the Shadow Broker next time you play through.

OK, just let them wipe out all humanity "at the moment". We'll get back to that later after they're all dead. Ok!

True, it would've made sense to ask her or mention it if you'd met her after the Collector ship mission. But I don't know if she could offer much help. All she knew was about the Protheans past, and the Collectors are repurposed - not even really Protheans anymore.
