Jesus christ, I'm kind of pissed right now.

Throughout all my playthroughs, I've been completely ignoring and snubbing Jacob due to how dull he acts and how reserved he is (plus, Bioware? Forcing us to flirt with him really hurt him as a character.) But after finishing the romance and going through with it... well, I was surprised. He's actually a really fun character (one of my favorites, in fact.)

And looking past the flabberghasting and almost laughable "But the prize!" kind of sudden suaveness, the romance was just as good (if not better) than most of the other romance options (male and female).

So here's a support thread that's not necessarily for Jacob romance, but for a Jacob that doesn't have the attitude of "unless you're going to bang me I'm going to answer all of your questions as if you were some kind of work survey about your opinion of the staff".  I mean, seriously. Even when he suggests getting loud and getting drunk on the citadel, he really doesn't look like he means it.


And one more thing...
Bioware, thank you for giving femshep and manshep different smiles. It actually really makes the difference between them more than gender... adding more subtle things such as this for ME3 would be tremendously awesome.

Ya he's basically Kaiden 2.0. Very serious and professional.

Maybe Jacob is just a cagey guy who doesn't like letting everybody he meets close to him. Perhaps you have to work that much harder to get to know him as you do. Not everybody is like Miranda "please take me on the table" Lawson.

he gets pretty casual wit male shep, what with the bro hug and gettin' loud, spillin' drinks on the citadel.

It's not even that. Kaiden was always professional, and didn't really like revealing his point of view on things. Jacob will open up to you during the romance, unlike Kaiden.

Also, this: he acts like this after what? After he's straight up professional with his commander? No progression from "Aye Aye, Commander" to "HEYYY, 'sup brotha! Yeah, you my boy, Shepard!"???
Uurg. At least with FemShep there's some progression.

I've started my Jacob Romance game and I have to say.... I think I understand the over-the-top flirting as the first conversation.



From the beginning, he's defending her and being up-front with her when no one else will. It's almost like he started crushing on her when she was still meat and tubes, as he calls it. So, when he says he hasn't looked at her like that, I'm not entirely sure he's honest. Shep's a fairly perceptive chick in this installment. How would YOU approach it if someone kept staring at your ass all the time? I think she's calling him on it.
