haha. when does he say this?

It's pretty much his conversation endpoint. The equivalent of Garrus calibrating weapos, Tali cleaning engines, or Miranda doing some "work" -- what work?!

Well, someone has to sit there and look pretty.

Ahh, so that's why Kelly gets so jealous of Miranda.

Because Miranda gets to sit, while Kelly has to make do with standing.

Not to mention Kelly feeds the fish. Can't stand there looking pretty when you're off feeding fish.

Yeah, I found that line to be out of character.

You should've had him in your party more often, since some of us combat quotes are equally laid back and straight-forward.

really, why is it bad or racist to drink alcohol? is it the wording you don't like? i have issue with numerous dialogue scenes and lines but this is not offensive or even contradictory to the character.

It wasn't the alcohol, it's just the delivery felt a bit homeyish.  Like all of the sudden I was more than just his commander, I was his 'bro' and "homey".

might have something to do with the fact that you kept coming to chit chat with him over personal matters.

And bioware missed out on the best interrupt ever.

"We live, we'll get loud, and spill some drinks on the citadel!"

So wait, is it racist that they wrote that particular line for him, or that you wrote it like that?

Preach it brother.

The line does seem slightly out of character, but I liked it if for no other reason than it was confirmation that Jacob's dialogue tree was finished. Garrus is calibrating those guns from start to finish, but Jacob went from not wanting to force friendly conversation to actually being Shepard's friend. Which makes sense seeing as the characters have a lot in common, and Jacob lacks the damage that so many of the other characters haul around.

Drink = alcohol.

Spill is a bit colloquial, but essentially indicates merry, raucous, care-free celebration.

Saying we're gonna 'spill some drinks' has nothing to do with being black. :P  Yea, Jacob is black, but I don't see any african-american connotation with it...

I took it as a sign that Jacob was comfortable enough around Shepard to act casual sometimes. To be honest, at the beginning of the game he's got a stick up his ass about a lot of things, which is good, I guess, because it shows he can be serious, but sometimes the veneer's gotta crack. And you know you were probably thinking the same thing about 'what to do after the game.' Well, that and make sweet sweet love to guys/gals from other planets.

I get tired of people crying "racism!" or "stereotype!" with every little thing that Jacob says... I never noticed anything wrong with his dialogue before they started saying stuff...

Yes. He's black. Occasionally he will say things that sound black. He's not Wayne Brady.

Talk to a native of Africa or maybe a black in Europe

I'm sure you'll see they don't speak that way.

And that's because you're comfortable with "If he looks black he should speak like this and not like that". In 2185 it's quite odd and jarring to see Jacob go from a casual cool guy to ebonic.

All men can probably but forward a stoic image of professionalism but sort of let that slide when they are comfortable with someone... I know I can go from speaking like a 19th century Englishman to a 21st century "hood star" depending on who I am speaking to and the situation...
