"The Collectors are coming after Earth!"

They have 1 ship, a ship that was taken out by the upgraded Normandy, which has AT MOST cruiser level firepower. The Alliance has 6 dreadnoughts, dozens of cruisers, and hundreds of frigates, plus the large nations of earth likely have their own small navies.
I'm not seeing how the single collector ship could stand up to one dreadnought, let alone the entire human fleet.

Hell, the defense towers on Horizon depleted the cruiser's shields and started whacking the hull after what.. a couple of minutes of bombardment?
Even if a fleet turned up they get chewed up by Earth's defenses.

Even the prophs couldnt stop them.

I think if the Reapers were already invading, Collectors taking humans would be the least of our worries.

Earth might not be as well defended as Arcturus Prime. They come in, block communications in the system and kidnap as many as they can before hauling away before the Arcturus Prime fleet arrives.
If a podunk colony like Horizon can get some defense towers that can school a Collector cruiser installed if the Alliance really wants to, then Earth must have static defenses that'd bring down a dreadnought.

That's a point really... making a completely new reaper seems like something that wouldnt help the reapers get out of the dark space or wherever they are stuck... maybe harbinger is more then he seems... *wink*

I presume the idea was to get another Reaper agent within our galaxy, like Sovereign was. With it's indoctrination signal and all that. Harbinger can't do that because it's in darkspace.

Really, when you think about it, I don't think the Collectors were really that big a problem, especially when compared to having taken down Sovereign in Mass Effect.

How many ships do they have anyway, and what were the rest of them doing?
They won't arrive until Tuesday.

Earth has a local fleet defending it. There is no way it would land before being instagibbed.

OP, I agree. Played the collector ship today. Heard it. Thought it sucked. Just another area where I found ME2s plot to be lacklustre. And to think they bigged the collectors up as the "greatest threat ever faced". Total bollocks. They are just simple reaper slaves.

Maybe this has been asked before, but can someone please explain to me how exactly the Collectors plan to attack Earth?

Not only that but being that Earth is the homeworld of Humans, a council race it would invoke the wrath of all citadel space.
The collector's plans were a bit hail Mary.

Ah yes, the "Collectors". A race of insectoids who allegedly kidnap humans and take them beyond the Omega 4 Relay. We have already dismissed these claims.

The game would make more sense if the Normandy gets destroyed and you all die if you didn't get the Thanix Cannon.
