Nowadays I just play through the game once, then shelve it until the next one comes out when I'll replay it to refresh my memory!

I encourage you, however, to play a little bit differently. There are so many interesting dialogue options, for instance, that I would've never explored on the first time around, and would still be undiscovered had I kept everything the way it was.

Well I don't do everything exactly the same. I do try to mix up the dialogue up a bit and do or don't do different interrupts. Its mostly where the big decisions like the collector base, the genophage cure, and the Heretics, that I find my self going back into the old routine.
I guess its mostly how I perceive Shepard. I've never had this problem with other RPGs were you can radically play the character differently. But with ME, I'm not playing some blank slate, I'm playing as Shepard. Shepard is his own character, one that you can shape in your own way, but is still someone with defined character. Any major shifts in that character such as gender or morality is simply off putting to me.
I'm sure I'll get around to doing at least one female or renegade character before ME3 comes, but it will definitely take time. Hell, I had this same problem with ME1, and I only got around to doing female/renegade character about a month before ME2 came out.

So i also advise you to try out the different dialogue choice and see whats behind them, i usually tend to stick to the ren/paragon dialogue options when they are presented, thinking that they are the best way to go, but i've found that sometimes choosing someting else in a given situation where the red and blue dialogue is available is much more closer to something i would say.
So definetly check those out, so in your final playthrough you know whats behind each door, and can truly play as yourself or as close to your self as possible.

I'm actually the same as you in that my moral leanings don't change from playthrough to playthrough. I'm pretty consistently paragon.
I was meaning more like... well, how about romances? You sound like you always romance Tali. So try something different, romance Jack or Miranda. Jack's romance scene is really emotionally impacting and Miranda has a kiss scene in her quarters before you even get to the romance scene that's pretty fun and interesting.

I've been considering going with Jack for a while as I think she's a great character, but my inner Tali fanboy always draws back in. Miranda? No thanks, as she is only squad mate that I actually dislike. You know what scratch what I said about never letting anyone die. I did reload a save, and brought an unloyal Miranda with me to the final battle just to see what would happen. Crushed by debris, which actually doesn't make much sense when you think about it.

Sorry to hear you don't like Miranda.
Go with Jack then. That was a really interesting romance. Jack pushes you away emotionally and it makes the romance scene (if you go paragon) really good.
Also, do you do other things differently, as well? Mix up the order in which you recruit people, for instance, try different scenarios? I do this and I find a lot of cool stuff I didn't before.

Play as a woman.....It gives a battle a different......Flavor.OverlordNexas wrote...
So I've gone through ME2 four times already, but each time I've played it exactly the same. I import the same level 60 male paragon, and make all the same major decisions each time. I always blow up the Collector base. I always romance Tali, I always save everyone. So far the only thing I've done differently each time is pick a different class. I've tried on a couple occasions to try playing a female or renegade character, but I always quickly lose interest and start playing as Sean Shepard again. Does anyone else have this problem, or am I just weird?

I actually cannot play as the same character repeatedly. I like importing my other character(s)* and playing as them. I do things differently on each, except for one thing which is romance Miranda each time.
Ditto, except Tali is the lucky girl.
But... Miranda got to snag one of my Shepards. She has a keeper too. He is probably the most badasses of my Shepards. (I swear if Shepard has the option of taking over the Galaxy at the end of ME3.. this one is the one that will do it.)

I just tweak things here and there to try and create my definitive Shepard that will go on into ME 3.
