I don't really like the Loyalty Missions being... called 'Loyalty' Missions.
Because basically it's just 'They die or not die' (except for Random Deaths) missions.
I kind of expected these Loyalty Missions to effect the actual Loyalty of the Crew during the Suicide Mission. For example each Crew Member has a chance to try and sabotage the mission.
Maybe Tali (upset about Legion) deactivates Legion, losing you him as a Squad Mate.
Or Miranda (the beautiful, nice butt, godess) kills Jack after Jack goes after her for being a Cerberus Cheerleader.
Am I crazy?
Loyalty Missions? Hardly!

You don't have to complete them all. And it's not always the non-loyal one who dies... sometimes one of your loyal guys dies as a result of someone being not loyal.

That would give me a reason not to complete Miranda's loyalty mission, but hey I managed to get Jack killed anyway so I am happy.
However I do like your idea but I think the point of the loyalty missions was to finish up any of the squad mates loose ends so they could focus their full attention on the mission and thus give it all they got, but I do think your idea is better.

Sorry to be a thread necromancer here, but I have something relevant to the topic
@TheBRADLeyB, I agree that loyalty missions should have had more effect in that non-loyal squaddies would sabotage the mission/other's survival for their own survival. I thought it was funny that those who were least loyal would die in the most sacrificial means whereas someone disloyal in real life would do whatever they could, including screwing over other, loyal squad members, to survive.
This doesn't make me hate the game. I just thought it was unusual and for ME3 if loyalty is a big focus again, I'd like to see more of non-loyal squad members practicing self-preservation over the mission.

I think Me3 will have personal missions (much like me1 personal missions). Your crew should be loyal after a suicide run like that!
