A friend recently bought DA and installed it on my computer.
We had some fun with it for a day and he went home and installed it there.
I decided to order the game on Steam the next day and removed his installation.
Somehow the game is still seeing his cd-key.
I have gone through my registry and changed the key everywhere I could find it, but somehow the launcher still shows the old one.
Could you plz explain what I need to edit to be able to change the key?
Howto change my cd-key?

You generally can't edit a CD-key. For most games the usual course of action would be to contact Steam or Bioware on their Official Support page. For DA:O the link is http://help.dragonage.com/
I saw a post yesterday that said that this is a fan based forum:

If the key is in there then just backup user/your name//my documents/bioware/dragon age/characters folder.
That has your saves and character information stored in it.
Also, \\Users\\Your name\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Pre-release Characters
if you made any characters using the demo character creator.
Once that's backed up you should be able to delete the BioWare folder then reinstall. You'll have to redownload any DLC however.

That reinstalling trick over and over ain't working, dunno where that Product key is but can't seem to get rid of it. And I can't find it either to manually modify it.
Any more ideas as to where to find it exactly?

Ok.. I found it in the registry finally. I have 64bit Windows 7 and it was located here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Electronic Arts\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age\\ergc
If its not there on your machine then a search of the registry should work for you. Just search for the cdkey listend in the config without dashes. It's in plain text in the registry. I tested changing it and it worked fine.

Thanks a lot, I was looking at the Bioware one, never would have guessed they had the key on a complete different EA path *SIGH*.
