Also, the drone is huge....max it.
Her gun is not as important to me, as I played a soldier....I shoot, my mates mess with their bodies and minds.

Use her to take out synths on missions. Build her to make them go poof!!!

Um ME1 forum dude. No drone.
Generally I build Tali similar to this:
pistol 8
shotgun 12
armor 8
firstaid 4
electronics 9
damping 12
decryption 9
ai hacking 12
quarian machinist 6
That will let her cover pretty much all of your tech needs and gives her really good shields with a decent ability to recharge them with advanced shield boost. I generally start off getting her electronics and decryption to 9 and then max out quarian machinist for the shield boost. The rest kinda varies from playthrough to playthrough and who I'm using as team members.

Enough ranks into Pistol to unlock Shotguns.
12 Shotgun
12 Light Armor
8 Electronics
12 Damping
12 Decryption
12 AI Hacking
6 Quarian Machinist
Between Electronics and Quarian Machinist, Tali has more shields than anybody else in the game, which means she's pretty safe joining my Shepard on the front-lines with her shotgun. She absolutely massacres any tech using enemies, although I have to micro-manage her AI Hacking skill so she uses it on appropriate enemies.

By leaving electronics at 8 you're missing master overload. This is also causing you to not be able to open certain objects (not many I'll admit). Why are you taking decryption to 12? All that really gives you is another 6% damage on tech explosions. If I were going to max 1 of the 2 I'd go for electronics. That will give her another 90 points of shields and 800 on vehicle repair. This would make even more sense, since you went for master shield boost.

This is the best suggestion in the thread and more or less what I do. Armor above 3 and the 4 points of first aid are the lowest priority points so you can leave them later or lose them if you really want to shuffle points around. But she does need at least basic shield boost fairly early as she has the worst survivability out of all the squad and, other than electronics a little, it's the only ability she has to help that.

Oops. That should have been 9 Electronics then. I thought Master Overload came at rank 8. I'd take off 1 point from Decryption to make up for the shortfall. The reason why I put more points into Decryption rather than Electronics is because Tali already has a significant bonus number of shields from her Quarian Machinist talent, and I'd prefer to try and squeeze as much damage out of her tech mines as possible.
Plus, I NEVER take any hull damage to the Mako, unless it's incidental damage from falling, and I thus never need to repair it, so the vehicle repair bonus is moot for me.
