She's okay. It isn't about people not being able to be pleased, it's just a matter of taste and honestly her voice is a little flat for me, although I haven't heard all her lines because I will never play as a femshep. Mark Meer isn't that great a voice actor, but I just like his voice and I think maleshep renegade is hilarious.

I keep forgetting that Jennifer Hale did Bastila... That had to be the best British accent from a North American I've ever heard! It's even better than some Brits!!

One thing worth noting, is that any lines that leads up to a player choice, need to be rather neutral, in order to flow decently together with all the of options about to pop up.

There are many of these things, that out of sheer gameplay neccessity breaks the flow of conversation, not least of which being Shepard's stepping back into one of the neutral-ish "bioware face" poses, while the game waits for the player to pick a branch.

so i'm finally playing through as a femshep. i made a perdy little thing thanks to me2faces.com and i've just got to comment on the way hale delivers her lines. i really enjoy the different approach and different voice inflections she puts on things but one thing really annoys me. she kind of sounds like a femail elcor. i mean when she speaks every single sentence is finished with a downbeat. even with her questions, there is hardly ever a raise in pitch of her voice. it's like she is doing really well in voice action until the last word of every sentence. it's really becoming noticable. not game ruining like how manshep says "resources" but it's noticible enough to be annoying.

Fed-up Outburst: I've had it with your snide insinuations.

Some people are amazing voice actors. Like Cirtebay Taylor for example. She did both Juhani and Suze.

Honestly, I wish Wendee Lee was chosen for the voice of FemShep. Not sure if she signed up for it though.

I thought she was trying too hard to sound like a tough guy (a sort of female Clint Eastwood) and it was coming off sounding a bit silly. She did a much better job in the first one.

Having seen the hilarous "Commander Shepard is still a jerk"-video as well as having made a FemShep-version inspired by it, my current thinking is both deliver some lines that sound a bit flat AND many lines that sound fantastic, making situations with indentical dialogue feel a bit different (as you would expect). Perhaps Hale is better at being simply COLD and ruthless, while Meer is better at being funny/sarcastic. Sometimes I wish Shepard would come off stronger, but that is true for either gender.

I really love the femshep voice it is perfect to me. I am currently playing manshep and his voice acting although okay seems very flat in comparison.

Personally I think Hale sounds much older/butch than a 30/32 year old. There are times when Meer is a bit monotone on his neutral lines, but when he's doing either uber bad or uber good he sounds pretty convincing, like when he hugs Tali.

Has it occurred to you guys that whatever problems you have with Hale or Meer isn't necessarily their fault, but that was the way they were directed to deliver their performances?

Mark Meer is superior for disingenuous assertions.

Hale just sounds like a squawky ****** when she is a renegade.

I think this comes down to the fact that no matter what the voice it is not your voice and the fact that they voiced the main character is Aces in my book. I much prefer this to the silence of many an RPG. Dragon Age upset me because they hadn't done the same for that title.

Yes that was "fun". People talk to your char and it just stands there waiting for you to click a text block.
Atleast you did not have to remember to eat food.:P

I love femshep simply because she exudes conviction. You're really in a good role. Like the arbiter in Halo. (somehow I prefer the french version, english one seems too whimpy.)

but it's slightly disturbing to here her trying to be sultry. I'm no going to compare her to that perpetually lactating mom (even for her husband @.@) but I could be persuaded to buy 3 if there was more of that and less chest thumping.

I like them both, but I do think that Hale could have gone with a more neutral approach thats a bit more feminine. Her voice sounds a bit too tough.

Male sheppard's voice is perfect for my paragon playthrough.

My male shepard is a good guy that has been a warhero. Hes pretty much a kindly soldier that got caught up in stuff way beyond him, the kind that would prefer a peacefull life with a loving family but simply serves because it is the good thing to do.

For a character like that the voice is perfect. Its quite fine as well for my racistic lawfull evil male shepard. He demands order and obedience from his crew and wants them to stay formal. He does not have much respect for the rules of others though, he considers himself the highest authority.

I prefer Hale myself but it might be because of Bastilla
withdrawl.  :)

I play as paragon with my femshep and as renegade it seems
like we go through a process of hardening with her with tougher
and often more violent choices...

Both have some great moments though.
