?I could figure this out on my own playing the game but would love to have some tips and hints to keep in mind starting a new game as an inflitrator on insanity.

I could use some tips, I am planning on playing an inflitrator on insanity.  I am curious what sniper rifle is the best for this and what skills to build on as well as strategies including what are good teammates with inflitrators.  Im curious to know if the widow is strong enough for insanity or viper useful for its auto shots.

any advice will be great

Don't bother with disruptor ammo. Get your incinerate, cloak, and passive up to two. Then get incinerate to 3, then cloak to 3, then max passive (I choose agent for the persuade bonus and spammable incinerate), then max cloak (assassination cloak is best), and finally max incinerate (heavy incinerate is best for insanity).

Make sure EVERY hit with your Widow (because you will get the Widow instead of any other weapon training) is a headshot. Widow pwns everything as long as you can aim well. Always cloak before you shoot, and cloak if the enemy starts getting too close. Incinerate whenever you see armor, or to insta-kill/dink out of cover undefended enemies.

Miranda should be in your team with maxed warp and overload, should get rid of any enemy defenses. 3rd teammate is your preference.

Thanks I think this build will fit me a lot better.  I might get tungsten as a bonus.  Incinerate seems to do well on tougher difficulties from what I used with Mordin.  Thanks for the tips

Probably should have mentioned this earlier, but at short ranges you may have some trouble. It's good to have Grunt or another tank for missions like the Reaper IFF where you get bum-rushed by lots of melee enemies that are supported with ranged enemies. Also, wherever you see scions, take them out first.

Running on Insanity with my level 30 Infiltrator. I prefer Heavy Reave over Heavy Warp because it deals high damage to shields and armor (about as much as Heavy Warp), in addition to siphoning health from enemies. Sometimes I will use it to juggle enemies, taking health from one while engaging another. Doesn't take me long to clear out a room full of enemies on Insanity.

Yah I was thinking I needed one tank as a sqaudmate because of the difficulty.

Thanks for that tip Permutation.

Infiltrator is probably my favorite class on insanity level. Every skill is really useful.

My tips:

Assassin class power/Assassination Cloak max
Incineration blast max
Miranda as a cerberus leader in your party (15% more damage 7% more health)
Don't worry about the health bonus', if you get caught with your pants down you're dead regardless and 6sec for your cloak is more than enough time to get your kill or retreat if you have to.

The other two skills depends on the mission (You can do that advanced training exploit to max out all your abilities, but if you chose not to, retrain powers isn't there just because you screwed up your build)

For collector missions I take warp ammo and sqaud cryo ammo. Heavy Warp ammo will allow you to one shot kill collector drones, and if you have miranda in your party as a Cerberus leader, you don't even have to be cloaked to do this with a headshot. Put squad cryro ammo on the rest of your party. They'll freeze drones once their barriers are down, which is usefull. Put squad cryo ammo on your SMG when facing husk waves. All you have to do is throw incinerate blast, spray your SMG while you run through them ( when you shoot unarmored husks with cryo they break apart quickly when they freeze. Run back until your incinerate recharges and repeat. You can do this in a lot of situations. The only place this is hard to do is on horizon and one stop with the barrier field on the last mission, there I just snipe the husks and abominations as fast as I can.

For husks only missions like the derelict reaper mission, I use AP ammo on the sniper, squad cold for the SMG.

For Blue suns merc missions, I'll put in squad disruptor ammo and AI hacking if I know there will be Loki mecs lurking around, squad cryo if there are krogan. If there are loki mechs hanging around, stripping its armor and hacking it is a great way to save ammo and flush out targets from cover. By the time the mercs drop its shields you can re-hack it and give it full shields again. If there are no mechs but there are krogan. Bring someone with squad inferno ammo. One headshot will strip the krogan of it's armor, put cyro on your pistol. 1-3 shots with your pistol will freeze the krogan and you can finish him off with the SMG easily, or you can use a squadmates biotic power like pul or slam, but I'd rather not have the downtime in some situations.

Eclipse merc missions-Warp ammo and another skill of your choice (Ai hacking if there are mechs in the mission)

Krogan missions-AP ammo for the rifle and SMG and squad cryo for your pistol. (There is usually only one enemy with barrier so why bother with Warp Ammo)

Geth would be squad disruptor and AI hacking. Strip a geth trooper of his shields, hack it, and the surrounding geth will focus on that, while you safely snipe or shoot with the SMG depending on the situation.

Bottom line, the infiltrator has every skill to make missions not difficult on insanity. You know what to expect on missions, so chose the right skills beforehand. Don't worry about element Zero consumption. You only need less than 30K for all your upgrades. The rest can be used to tailor your character to suit the mission.

thats a really good idea that I didnt think about mosor. I know what to expect on each mission now but I didnt think to retrain for the missions. thanks for that tip. I finished my last game with over 30000 element zero without trying to look for element zero thats at least 6 retrains. I can see huge benefits for AI hacking and disrupter ammo on the Geth missions. At the same time cyro and tungsten would be helpful on Tuchanka.

No problem. You can save even more element zero by stringing missions that require a similar build together, thus requiring less retraining sessions. You'll still probably die a lot, but at least it will be a lot easier than sticking with a static build.
