Hey everybody!

I just wanted to announce an update to the Mass Effect Galactic Checklist!  It's now at version 2.6, and can be found at http://masseffect.shockfront.net.

The Mass Effect Galactic Checklist is a comprehensive, six-page checklist that you can use to keep track of your progress through Mass Effect, including the downloadable content (DLC)!

This list will help you keep track of:
  • Which assignments (sidequests) you’ve found and completed, and which ones have an impact on a character imported into Mass Effect 2
  • Which planets you’ve searched and what resources you can find on them, as well as which ones are home to the dangerous Thresher Maws
  • What you need to complete each collection quest
  • Your MediGel and grenade capacity upgrades, and where to get them
  • Your manufacturer licenses
Designed to be printed onto three double-sided pages, the list also works great as it is – the PDF is now interactive, and allows you to save your progress right in the file!  Each section also stands alone, so you can easily print only what’s useful for you.

This list is a great companion to any of your Mass Effect playthroughs – especially if you’re aiming for the Completionist achievement!

You can find the list at http://masseffect.shockfront.net!

Hope it comes in handy!  Enjoy!  As always, don't be shy about sending me any corrections, requests or suggestions for future versions.  A big thank you to everyone who has already!

- Teryx

Edit (September 25th, 2010): Edited to update the links and include information about the newest version, version 2.6.  :)

Glad to see you're working on an ME2 version now too. It's nice to see you've got your own site for it too. Keep up the good work, and I'll be sure to check out and comment on the ME2 list when you release it. Now I don't have to direct people to some forum post to find it too.

Thanks for the checklist, I've used past versions a couple times already for achievements & my pre-ME2 run. :)

I'm curious about what you're using as the measure of "this sidequest affects ME2." Quite a few will result in an e-mail (e.g. Scan the Keepers) or a news story (e.g. Bring Down the Sky), while others will get a mention or two in conversation (e.g. Asari Diplomacy) but without your choices seeming to matter; and then there are only a few that seem to really change based on what you did during the quest, not just whether you did it (e.g. Hostile Takeover; or The Fan if they ever get ME2 working right).

After some thought and discussion with other users of the list, I decided that only the ones that actually changed a mission or presented unique dialogue in the second game (so, actual interactive elements) would be marked with a 2 symbol.

Thanks for the update, Pteryx. I've found your checklist quite helpful on my ME1 runs. :)

I'm not sure I totally agree with leaving out the 2 symbol for ME1 sidequests that generate unique e-mails or news stories, though. I think it would be handy just to let people know that the choices they make for this quest will be reflected in ME2, but it's your call.

It was a tough call, Zaxares. What helped me get to the decision I chose was that if I were to put a 2 symbol next to every mission that affected ME2 in even the slightest way, there would be a 2 symbol next to almost every side mission - at which point I might as well not put any on the list at all.

In the notes at the bottom of the list, I do explain my method for determining which missions have the 2 symbol, and that almost every mission impacts ME2 in some way, be it a radio announcement or e-mail.

Thanks a lot for the checklist, sometimes in the future I intend to play ME1 again so this will come handy.

Also, good luck for the ME2 checklist, that one will be appreciated too.

Holy ****, I'm going to print a hundred of these! Seriously, thankyou. I tried writing down my progress once, but it was an inconvenience. This is so practical! Well done.

Indeed, but it's still great to have something like this.

Thank you very much, Teryx. This is really well done.

Thanks!

I'm working on an update to the Mass Effect 2 list now, actually.  It's not going to be the update I wanted, as I'm prioritizing just adding the content from the Firewalker Pack, Kasumi's Stolen Memory, Overlord and Lair of the Shadowbroker over some QOL improvements I wanted to make to the whole thing.  I'm calling it an alpha release, as it'll be a little stripped down from 1.0, and not all the new features will be implemented, but it will have the important stuff, and all the other little tweaks will be coming down the line.

Thanks for your patience, guys, I'll probably have 1.5a out by next week, and then the full 1.5 (hopefully) shortly after that.

Will post updates to masseffect.shockfront.net to keep you in the loop.  :)

And that didn't take as long as I expected.

Updated the blog with a link to the alpha version of 1.5. It has all of the content from the Firewalker Pack, Kasumi's Stolen Memory, Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker. It's not the finished version, still has a lot of tweaks to go and changes to make, but it's a start.

You can snag it here: http://masseffect.shockfront.net/

Oh, I should probably mention that I gave a link to your checklists in the list of strategy guides over in the strategy forum. Much useful for a nonspoilerly check on what ME1 quests have some sort of affect on ME2.

I just want to express my deep appreciation for this , it has made my playthrough much easier. i gave a copy to my best friend and she is finally playing ME1; she said the checklist was the deal breaker for her. Now she doesn't get overwhelmed with trying too keep up with so much to do. A heartfelt thank you from both of us.

Thanks, that's always great to hear!  I never thought my list would actually be helpful to people who weren't yet playing the game, so that's pretty cool.
Don't forget you can find out about updates and new versions at the blog I've set up for it., at masseffect.shockfront.net  :)
Thanks again!

Pteryx, I want to give a BIG thanks for the checklist. I'd played ME without it and with it is so much easier for me even after all my recent playthroughs.

I've updated the original post to include some links and information about the newest version I just released, version 2.6, which adds one big feature - it's now an interactive PDF, allowing you to check the checkboxes and fill out the form fields right in your PDF viewer without having to print it out first.

You can find it at: masseffect.shockfront.net

Enjoy, and stay tuned to the blog at masseffect.shockfront.net or my Twitter feed for further updates to this list and for version 1.5 of my Mass Effect 2 checklist, which is coming soon!
