With the recent revelation that Shotguns fire 8 pellets instead of 4 as previously thought, doesn't that mean the Claymore has the highest base damage of ME2 weapons with the exception of the heavies?

I'm not sure, but I think even the Widow doesn't have a base damage higher than 400..

Even if it does, that's only assuming all projectiles hit. And you have to almost be at point blank range for that. So I think attempting to use this as any sort of metric for judging or comparing weapons is questionable.

I was simply questioning whether the status quo had indeed changed..

The Claymore is practically useless for any class except the Vanguard anyway. 

I equipped a soldier with the Claymore and tried to see whether I could mimic the fast and furious style of the Vanguard..

Lets just say it wasn't very successful

Well, you did when you asked how its base damage compared to other weapons.

I'm not flaming you, I'm just saying it's kind of a meaningless statistic in itself.

Edit: I bet your soldier was about as fun as my vanguard with broken charge on the collector ship level <_<

The widow's base damage is 368.3.

Claymore gets the 2x damage bonus at melee range, so it can go as high as 800. T

Because I didn't know the base damage stat for the Widow, and I was hoping to find out..

I would hardly call base damage meaningless, but it's definitely overrated perhaps.

I bet your soldier was about as fun as my vanguard with broken charge on the collector ship level <_<

If I recall, you can charge on the Collector ship level, but you have to be on the same platform as your target.....which is kind of ridiculous I must admit.
