Honestly, I'd probably be fine with it if they didn't make so much of you being her captain during her loyalty mission and the longstanding crush. You being their CO doesnt bother me so much, because it seems a very technical sort of authority. Pre-Omega 4 relay Miranda and Jacob take their orders from TIM and none of the other LIs really seem to regard you as "in charge" in a formal way. Tali does.

I honestly dont see this 'formal' thing you do. She never calls you captain or commander. She always calls you Shepard and talks to you like her best friend. Never a subordinate. Meanwhile Jacob salutes you at every opportunity. Miranda is under direct orders to follow your orders. Tali is there because she's your friend.

Wrong.
There are four very distinct points in the game that tell us that Tali has an attraction to Shepard and it has nothing to do with him being in charge of her, because truthfully, he's not her commanding officer.
1) From the very first time we meet Tali in the game on Freedom's Progress, it's made clear that she holds Shepard in high regard as a friend and possibly something more. She says, (and I'm paraphrasing): "I have responsibilities now. I can't drop them. Not even for you." The NOT EVEN FOR YOU part caught my ear the first time I heard it. I was like, "damn, that sounded personal" and it turned out it was. Even Ashley didn't say that to my Shepard and I romanced her in ME1.
2) Tali flat out tells Shepard that she is only coming along on the mission as a favor to him and not for Cerberus. In no way does she ever infer it's because she has to follow an order or that Shep is her commander. The only team members Shepard has any authority over are Jacob and Miranda.
3) After you recruit Tali, you gets an email from a Quarian admiral informing you that Tali has specifically requested to be transferred to the Normandy. It also heavily implies that Tali holds Shep's words in a higher regard than anyone else. With Tali's feelings revealed later, we can surmise that the reason she requested a transfer is because she's in love with Shep and wanted to be with him.
4) After you recruit Tali, if you talk to Kelly, she tells you that she senses Tali is attracted to you.
None of these things have anything to do with a young, impressionable girl falling for her commander. Even when Tali reveals how long she's been in love with Shepard, it turns out it's because she respected him and what he stands for. She's not the nerdy girl in love with the captain of the football team; she's a grown woman who fell for a man with morals, courage and conviction (assuming you were a Paragon of course

Dont know if it matters to most or not.
The admiral you refer to in #3 is Admiral Rael Zorah. Tali Zorah's father I think. If you read the letter as just coming from an admiral it says one thing. Read it as coming from Tali's dad it means something else.
For some that might be creepy, for some it will make it sweeter.

If in game Tali is a LI or just a friend . I think Rael Zorah is cleaning his shot gun while writing it. Better take care of my daughter Shepard.

I had forgotten who it was from. IMO, the fact it comes from her father only serves to cement the notion that Tali had great admiration and respect for Shepard, and not some school girl crush.

I agree with this. That letter is
awesome when taken in the context of the romance. It was basically a
formal way of saying "If you hurt my little girl I will find
you." Pretty canny of ol' Rael to pick up on Tali's crush on
Shepard despite being a fairly distant parent.
Obviously he was a pretty cool guy. Eh activates teh geth and doesnt afraid of anything.

Missed one - there's the audio journal entry on Haestrom when she says (paraphrase) - "I wish my friends could see this. I wish Shepard were here." You can also argue that she has a "What Would Shepard Do?" moment on Haestrom when her audio journal records her discussing using the detonator to clear debris.
I would argue that there's a touch of hero worship in Tali's outlook toward Shepard, but just a touch. The fact that she would like to share suits with Shepard of EITHER gender testifies to this (note that suit linking isn't automatically a sexual thing - Tali's mother linked suits with Shala'Raan when Tali was born; instead it's an indicator of considerable trust). I would guess that she also draws a certain amount of self-confidence from knowing that Shepard has her back. But my comment on the possibility of a mere crush is the same as the conclusion that others pointed out the last time someone brought up this topic - crushes don't last for two years.

In reality when there's a brunette hottie (Ashley), a redhead hottie (Kelly), a genetically perfect hottie (Miranda) and a tatooed psycho hottie (Jack) you can bang could you really interested in Tali? If I want an interspecies relation that bad I would prefer blue skinned hotties (Liara, Samara/Morinth).

My MainShep has been through the game twice and he's romanced Miranda both times. I like the other options presented. I just happen to like Tali a lot more. When she's standing there working at her engineering console I picture my Shepard sneaking up behind her and hugging her, and of course grabbing a handful of those wide, shapely buns.

AMAZING: Some people are actually interested in personality rather than "banging hotties".
Although, I do find Tali attractive.

Don't get me wrong. I like Tali. A lot. But I can't bring myself to romance her. The power differential between her and Shepard is just to great. He's a decade older than her, she's barely out of her teens, and it's pretty obvious she's nursing a huge crush. This is not a relationship of equals. Shepard could take advantage of her in dozens of small ways. I'm curious to know if the romance deals with these issues at all, or if this is one subplot I should avoid for the sake of my blood pressure.
I had the same issue with the ME romances. My Paragons usually go through the first game single.
My wife is 10 years my senior...Im 29 and she is 39. As long as they dont fall under the "galactic statitory rape laws" (lol) then age is just a number IMO. And to answer your question, yes, just avoid it if it bothers you that much.
