The more I play ME2 the more I hate this lame excuss for a character. I
mean for one he starts off expecting you to immendiately trust him but
he gives no trust to anybody else. Everytime I recruit someone he gets
negative and has an attitude that makes me just want to punch him in
his hypocritical mouth.

Beyond that, he is just a dry character that doesn't possess any level of personality
beyond being a complete **** with daddy issues.

Moving past even that, tactically his
skills are worthless. For Incendiary Ammo + Shotgun he is nothing
compared to Grunt, as a tank with Barrier (shield+) he is nothing
compared to me, and as a biotic with Pull... well Jack is a better
option because with her upgrade and her character-skill cooldown +
party biotic cooldown she can lockdown a whole group of mobs
indefinately while still throwing shockwaves and still possessing the
best ammo skill in the game.

Seriously what effin' use is Jacob beyond pissing me off after every recruitment mission?

hes there so you can get wild and spill drinks on the citadel.

he is pretty useless in combat and out though. on my renegade playthrough he really got on my nerves; acting like a jerk every conversation and saluting me right after. pretentious a**hole that jacob.

if it werent for his loyalty mission, i dont know what possible trait of his could make him an interesting or even likeable character.

Hey Blind Lark, to be fair I am half-black, and nothing I said was derogatory. Not to mention I said not to take it the wrong way. My point is that he isn't even in his own racial character. Although the more I try to defend that position the deeper the hole I sink myself into. Although most of my black friends who played ME2 hated Jacob as much as I did and they said the same thing I just said. So I don't feel like I was being racist.

EDIT: Yes "black traits" in a "badass" character. Just look at Ice Cube, Ice T, (muthaeffin') MR. T. For a black badass he acts like a b****.

You don't need to drag his race into the equation. That's what makes you look racist.

You don't have to be insulting black people, you're still saying they all act generally the same.

So that's supposed give you a pass? Even if it does serve a scapegoat for you it's still an ignorant blanket statement. You lose/lose in this situation.

Exactly. It's the future. Humans have evolved far beyond us. Just look at Anderson, in the first novel, it says he's an example of diverse racial backgrounds in the humans.

I'm sorry but black doesn't mean one thing or another. He could African-American, African(from any country), Haitian, Jamaican. I think it's maybe a US thing to associate
race with certain behaviors a little too much. In the context of Mass Effect, he could just be someone raised on a remote planet surrounded with aliens, like many humans are now.

We're getting too much into politics here.

Your other criticisms seem founded though I haven't gotten very far yet to judge for myself.

What you're saying isn't traditionally "racist" in that you aren't discriminating or saying anything negative. But what you are doing is making an argument that's pretty silly and could easily be misinterpreted as being racist.

You're saying things like "He doesn't act like a black person!". That's the problem. Suggesting that there is a specific way that a black person is expected to act.

It's not "racist" per se, I'm not getting my knickers in a bunch over it. It's just a misguided thing to say.

Lol thanks to the people who can take comments with a grain of sand. Lol. Anyways I made a mistake. Let's drop the race thing and concentrate on the real issue that I have with him... he is a b**** of a character and has abilities that other characters use better.

Oh god THIS. I'm black and I act nothing like that sterotypical black person in the media. :pinched:

And yes Jacob is BORING and lame. That has nothing to do with his race and everything to do with his character.

He does have a nice ass though. :police:

I have to apologize to the whole thread and community, I really wasn't trying to make a racist statement and that is what everyone focused on. Please for the sake of the thread let's concentrate on the rest of my points and I will edit my first post.

I don't see what's wrong with his character or personality. He's my 2nd favorite behind Garrus. I don't know what acting like a "****" consists of, but I don't think volunteering for a suicide missions is in that description...and he only has a problem with Legion & Thane as I recall.(which makes sense, geth and assassin's aren't the most trustworthy)
