So, I just picked up ME2 for the PC the other day and after installing it and getting to the load screen I select start a new game, choose my sex, and it goes to the next load screen and just stops loading after about a second and just freezes the picture on the load screen. I end up having to use the task manager to close the program and get to the desktop. Does anyone have any suggestions for this, it's really frustrating...

Joe, they're probably going to need a little more information on your specific situation before they can help you.
Important information any tech support effort will need from you can often be found by running "dxdiag" from the command prompt.
Information you should considering including ..
-Operating System
-Graphics card or chipset
-Ram (amount, type, and frequency) (example 4 gigs ddr2, 1033)
-DirectX version (9.0c, 10, 11)
Optional items and items usually left off until requested ..
- Motherboard model and bios version / motherboard chipsets
- If you've overclocked your system
- Page file size
- hard drive models and firmware versions.

Mine has the same problem, except for the fact that the game was running fine (since Jan 28th) until 2 days ago...
EDIT: Found the problem, just upgraded to a core-i7 processor and everything works fine now.

Athlon 64, there is your "culprit".
The bad thing is, right now ME2 doesn't like to work with Single Core CPUs.
The good thing is, it's easy to fix with the Patch that gets released today. Bioware fixed the problems regarding Single Core CPUs, although we don't even meet the system requirements. That's a nice act of goodwill from Bioware and i really appreciate it. I have a Single Core CPU as well.

i have tried this one and succeeded
"Alright I have worked out what the problem is.
The Mass Effect 2 Installer is a disgusting abomination that should never have even existed.
To fix this problem, install Mass Effect 2 as usual, then extract the Movies.rar file from your Mass Effect 2 Disc 1 to where your Mass Effect 2 movies have been installed.
The movies have not been entirely installed, which is why it won't load properly.
If you manually extract all the movies from the disc to your destination folder, it will all be in there properly and Mass Effect 2 won't have any trouble loading."
worked for me
you should try it
