Yea Alistair dies has to have been the SUCKIEST ending ever for me. I really like the guy and got the achievement but I will never go that route again. The behavior of everyone AFTER the battle just upset me. Having a freaking party when one of your companions is dead. No funeral scene, nothing. I hated it.

Yeah, it was pretty wretched. Especially since I had him hardened and had him lined up to be the next King. And he goes and sacrifice himself to be a hero.

At the ceremony, they hardly mention Alistair. I just wanted to be like - "HELLO! Your KING died killing the ARCHDEMON, and you are acknowleding ME as the 'Hero of Ferelden'?"

So I just sacrificed myself. A much better ending, my favorite ending actually. And plus with that, Anora wont get the throne.

Yea I actually liked the US ending, its one of my favorites.  I probably would have liked Alistair's a LOT better if they had had your PC giving him a eulogy at a funeral.  King or not he didn't deserve that.  HE was the hero who ended the Blight and took one for the team not the PC (though admittedly they would never have reached that point without the PC).  And I sure didn't feel like throwing a party.  Man I was so mad at Bioware!

I think this was the writer's wicked plot to get us to play their favorite endings.

I had the same bug. having done the dark ritual. Alistair was standing next to her as she said this. I then talked to him, he told me to see my adoring public and that he'll be waiting for me upstairs... I just took it that Anora was having a senior moment...
