We have a winner: The Engineer. It came down to a coin toss, and Engineer won. But don't worry, I'm going to do some stuff for Assault Sentinels too.

I'll be going to be updated the OP whenever I get a new video up, and I'll be posting specific strategies in the comments section below. If you have any requests let me know and I'll definitely do it.

Also, I'm going to be trying a few new things this guide, one being really improving the clarity of the audio (less background noise and less popping). I'll also be doing more sections, and maybe a Live video or two, where I talk while playing a section.

Yippy Kay Yay, I'm looking forward to this. I don't actually post much around here, but I read a ton, and the adept guide was insanely (see what i did there?) helpful. Keep up the rockin' good work, man.

Suuuuuureee~ You start working on it when I finished my Engineer's Insanity run. Regardless, it should be interesting to watch and I am looking forward to comparing your stategies to mine. I intend on writing a text Engineer Guide sometime in the next day or so.

Off to a good start, looking forward to the rest. My engineer just got off the collector ship and so far its been pretty good. Only thing I kind of have trouble with is getting multiple enemies to target the drone.

edit: Also for the passive I went with the +15% damage one because 3 of your 4 main skills focus on damage over duration.

I'm going through with an engineer as well at the moment (I was juggling engineer and infiltrator for the first ~5 hours, but I think I've settled on the former for my current play through), and I'm having a blast using drone, incinerate and cryo blast.

I've actually come out of quite a few battles where I had barely used any ammo - quite a change from my original soldier play through.



All the engineer videos I've seen so far show a much more aggressive play style that I've used so far though (including how I played my solider). I make constant use of cover and take my time in combat, rather than run in guns - or powers - blazing, only seeking cover when the health is into the red, as the common approach seems to be for the engineer players who have posted videos.



I imagine any videos I made would be a whole lot more boring to watch though :).

why geth shield boost? because you expect to be a lot in frontline?



do you consider GSB optimal for engineer? Wouldnt be warp "better"?

I'm looking forward to seeing the floaty platforms of doom from the Collector ship. I died there with my insanegineer more than anywhere else in the game, would be good to see how someone else handles it.

I took GSB on my engineer just as an 'oh sh**' button for when shields are down and I'm about to die, you only need 1 point in it to fully recharge shields. I wouldn't take warp because I'd have to take too many points away from something else to make it worthwhile, and because barriers can still be taken down quickly with the smg and squadmates.

Nice as always! I was planning to do Engineer once I finish Vanguard... it's always a goal to try and match some of the people posting great videos here.

It's actually my "policy" to play classes as pure as possible. That means I won't be using a bonus power. I took GSB only because it was a tech power and I thought, well if I have to take one might as well be tech. However after Horizon when I get my respec, I'm going to be getting rid of it.

that actually really annoys me about the bonus powers that it forces you to put a point in it. They really need to add the option not to take a bonus power.

it's a free extra point.   why wouldn't you want it?   it doesn't come out of any of you existing skill points.

Wow, the engineer sure looks fun. Far more entertaining than your adept vids, in my opinion. Looks like I need to have a go at this class. Keep em coming.

Better than my adept vids! :o

Engineer/Infiltrator were my mass effect 1 classes. I think the adept is awesome this game, but I didn't care for it at all last game. Engineer has always sort of been the odd Shepard out, and I think most of the changes made were really good. Is it wierd that I still want grenades though? I used those constantly in ME 1.

I used to use grenades all the time too, so often in fact it seemed I rarely had any lol.

Damn engineers. Wanted to see how you're Assault Sent would look compared to how I play it. Guess I get to wait, but I'll probably be onto another class by that time. Aw well, your vids are always a good time. Maybe it'll make me decide on playing Engi next even.

A question for the "Great" Gatsby. How many times do you die before you finally have a video eligible for your guide? Oh yeah, putting you on the spot now! :P

For this guide? I died 2 times at the second section because I kept confusing my cryo and overload. Other than that no deaths. Most of the time I die 2 or three times. However I always try to reset the mission if I haven't gotten very far. I try to have complete sections. I'll also occasionally restart a section if I want to experiment with a different way of doing things.
