I too had an issue getting the drone up on that first ledge, but that place is an exception rather than a rule. There are many places the drone can go that shepard cannot, including the ledge all the rocket vorcha are on after the first fan is turned on, otherwise a good video.

This.  though I seem to remember if an enemy is behind cover on a higher ground,  i have problem placing a drone there,  but as soon as they come out in the open, it works.

I saw that you are using some kind of "combo" like by adept warping enemy under biotic effects.
What you use for such combos under Engineer?

Are you talking about when he pulls with jacob and then uses Mirandas warp?

well i saw there some explosions that i thought are not through pull+warp, and gatsby in the video says something along the lines of combos.... but i am not native speaker, so when it's hectic i dont understand all the words, so i could overhear something

edit: i mostly talk about the explosions after overload...i saw there 2 i think

You are probably talking about when he blows up the Vorcha Pyros (dudes with tanks on their backs).

Basically, once they are down to health only, cast overload on them and they explode :)

Quality vids!

I imagine you'll cover this in a later vid, but how do you plan on dealing with enemies with barriers? Are you going to largely rely upon your squadmates for those battles?

Like this Barriers aren't really as big a problem as people think they would be.

I think your talking about when he was speculating that there is a damage bonus for using incinerate on a target that has been frozen.

Few other things. The drone will work on some balconies. I have only run into a couple balconies that I couldn't get the drone on. The drone will also serve like singularity did on powerful units as far as locking them down as well. When I was fighting the praetorian, he went after mordin for a second, and right before mordin was about to drop, I popped the drone out, and the praetorian turned for a second and that gave him just enough time to get to cover.
Last but not least, incinerate will pop un armored/shielded pyro units as well.

Other then that, good work so far gats.

This whole thing boggles my mind.  One day people will get past the whole "Defenses are impenetrable so I must bring Warp/Reave/Overload to every mission."

If enemies have about equal health/defense (generalization), then instead of using all your powers on defense and saying you can just shoot enemies in health, why not just shoot enemies with defense and then unleashing hell on their health?

Average Gatsby does it all the time with Cryo Blast, Overload vs. Pyros, etc.  You do it in your video, hell, I have a whole tutorial on a similar concept.

It just takes a slight paradigm shift and all of the sudden 90% of enemies are jokes, and you get the full use of all your powers back.

Anyway, cheers to the both of you, and Jaekan as well for bringing the Engineers to the table.

I've only done infiltrator on insanity, which was mainly use incinerate on armor and regenerating health, and shoot everything with disruptor/warp/AP ammo. Didn't need to worry for the most part about which squadmates I was bringing around.
I assumed guns were less effective for the non-combat classes.  After watching sinosleep's vid though...well, you know what they say when you assume..

Sinosleep, how were you that confident that you wouldn't be flanked when you started advancing up the left side?  Did you just know where everyone on the battlefield was without having to check radar?

I suggest Qwib Qwib as your drones name. For one it just sounds awesome and for two its the ship of Zaal'Koris who is mild-mannered towards Tali in her treason trail so theres a reason to honor this.

I knew the lay out cause I've used that particular section for other vids and between all the classes have beaten it quite a few times but when playing as an engineer I don't worry about getting flanked any way. The drone makes it practically impossible to get flanked since it's so good at taking the focus off of you and onto it.

I mean, I guess technically I could have been flanked, since there was a spawn in the middle and a spawn on the right, but since Grunt and Miranda were running around on the right hand side of the map I just figured they would take the fire from them and if not I figured I could kill the guy on the left quick enough to have the drone ready to distract any flankers.

Alright so, as already stated, I've got part one of archangel's mission up:

Archangel Part 1

This run was originally going to be another live run like the end of my
adept video but my commentary during the gameplay was really
lackluster. So I'm redoing it, but it will still be one solid no-deaths
run. Not so much Cryo from shepard this time, but lots of Mordin's
cryo, which is amazing as you will see.

Also, if you guys want I can do Okeer or Jack's missions, but I'm thinking about just pushing ahead
to Horizon for now. At this point you'll have seen plenty of anti-merc videos so I might as well get to collectors.
I'm having a blast with this engineer. In my opinion, this is probably the most fun designed "caster" classes because of the diversity of abilities. And also an awesome improvement from the first game. Now if only they brought back grenades so I could make explosive traps...

There should be a "I support grenades for ME3"signature.

I concur! The Engineer is a very entertaining caster. I also remember when I first started playing ME2 and how I would spam select as if I was expecting Shepard to throw a grenade. I was like "What the hell!" It took me a couple minutes of thinking that my select button was broken before I realized they took it out. Would of added so much more boom to the battles if they kept it. Now that I think of it, what the hell did they put on select for xbox controllers? If there's nothing there, it should at least be another keybinding >/

Nice video. :) I don't see any reason not to go ahead to Horizon. Okeer's mission is really easy and Jack's is only difficult because of bad or buggy cover. A Jack's mission walkthrough would be useful, but I don't think it's necessarily an Engineer tutorial. It might make better sense as part of thisisme8's combat basics series. I find there are a lot of different routes to advance and some of them leave you flanked or pinned down.

Great videos as always, Gatsby. Really enjoying them.

If you get the chance, could you do the final fight on Okeer's mission? That one always gives me a tough time. I'll be taking an Engineer through Insanity shortly, and it'd be good to get some tips going into that fight.

Haven't gotten to Okeer's mission just yet, but here's what I'd suggest for the last fight:

Stay behind the pods on the side you enter on. Kill the Krogan as they come to you and use your drone to distract the heavy mech. The merc chick should stay on the far side and take pot shots with her rocket launcher, so just stay away from her. After about four Krogans, they'll stop spawning and you can take out the mech from cover. Once she's alone, the merc chick is cake.

Only thing to watch out for is if you're using the pods for cover (as opposed to one of the boxes), the merc can sometimes get a good angle on you with the rocket launcher and stagger you out of cover.

Mordin should be really good here with Incinerate for the Krogan's armor and Cryoblast to freeze them. Miranda's warp is useful for the Krogan and her overload can help with the rest of the stage. Jacob's solid all around as usual with inferno ammo for the Krogans and pull for anything that's down to health. Jack isn't very useful here, and Garrus/Zaeed, while useful on the rest of the level with overload/disruptor ammo, aren't as great for the final fight.

Once the Krogan are dealt with, you should be able to deal with the mech easily. I don't usually see it try to come up the ramp to where you are, so the Krogan flushing you out are the biggest danger.

^Only time that last part is bad is when the Mech finds a way up the sides to your hiding spot. I've had it happen on my vanguard and my Infiltrator. It even happened on my first adept playthru iirc. That's when it becomes a biatch.

Shouldn't be a big deal if you spend some time locking him down with combat drone. If it does happen, use the combat drone for some lock down and then run to Jedore's side and kill her. Since she uses a rocket launcher, she's pretty easy to deal with up close. Killing Krogans fast is the key, still. The faster you kill them, the more time you have to spend locking down the mech.

Part 2 of Archangel's Recruitment

The audio is about a half second behind or ahead (I forget which) the images on the screen. This was because I did this all in one playthrough and because of the way I edited. I was able to fix this in part 3 so sorry about that.

I'm taking on Jaroth and his YMIR, as well as the Halls of the Bloodpack in this section. Also Mordin is a beast.

I find if I neither help nor hinder the YMIR mech before Jaroth, he usually dies before Jaroth and takes almost all the Eclipse mercs out with no effort on my part.

 New Video

Part 3 / More Mercs, Enemy Types

Besides more merc killing, I talk about my "Enemy Tiers" theory, which I may go into later in a collection video, trying to explain my methodology behind using what move for what enemy. I'll be pushing on to Horizon today.

So strange...  I just posted a video about defense using the same area and talked about the similar things, though not Engineer specific.  I think great minds must think alike.  It was an excellent vid.  You really make the class look easy.  Definitely looking forward to the Horizon section.

Also, do you do the two shutters in a specific order for a specific reason?

Yes. Because I have a rule to "just go right" whenever I have a choice. Also I can't stand that last part in the corridor, specifically that corner, so I save it for last.
