Awesome work as usual! From what I can tell the only video guides so far are Engineer and vanguard, why don't the rest have them? *hint hint nudge nudge* :P

great vids gatsby! Not an engineer fan, but you can make any class look good! Looking at your biotic combo vids now :)

I will luv u forever when you do sentinel.... *wink*

I think I'll start it soon. I love playing the engineer, but when you have no effective anti harbinger ability combined with no survivability and poor cover, the engineer can easily get frustrating, so I'm going to put it on the backburner. It won't slow down my video uploads but I just wont be playing it quite as much.

First off gotta say i love your videos, currently playing adept through insanity, and then going to work on engineer! and damn you make it look freaking fun. But question, you say you are going to play sentinel more? I was wondering what anti harbringer abilities, and survivability abilities does it have over the engineer with the geth shields?

Here's something to think about for an engineer: GSB is a 12 second cooldown ability, that gives a 25% shield boost for 1 point, up to a 75% or 100% shield boost for 10 points. That means in order to max it out, you have to sacrifice one of your core abilities. You also need to reload it between each fight if you want it to stay up for the full duration. And if you use it as an "Oh crap" moment, thats 12 seconds of no combat drone, no cryo, no incinerate.

The Sentinel doesn't have to constantly recast Tech Armor. Tech Armor also is a core ability, so its not a sacrifice to use it. Assault armor gives a 50% shield recharge upon destruction, as well as a massive damage dealing knockdown AOE. Power Armor boosts damage of all your abilities.

In my mind, the engineer should never take GSB unless you want to act like a soldier/sentinel with a drone. Its a terrible recharge power as well: all shield powers are terrible if your using them for a quick recharge, because upgraded medi-gel can restore full shields and health, and has only a 3 second cooldown. Medi-gel is way better than Fort/Barrier/GSB if you want increased survivability, because its cooldown is so short and it costs no points.

 Collector Ship Live:
Part 2 / Bad Cover

Sometimes you just can't get a good spot. In my mind, due to the layout of the level, this is actually a harder fight than the platforms. Remember, if your even close to thinking you might need to heal or you might die, use that medigel. Its everywhere, no need to be stingy.

Awesome video.  I'm just curious if drone spamming would give you more cc and get you further than incinerate collector ship.  I have not played the engineer on insanity but I do remember being able to drone spam on lower levels to flank collectors.  Would that strategy have any chance of success on insanity?  Or even a NG+ run?

The drone dies so quickly against harbinger that explosive would have been nice, but something to consider about explosive on harbinger: You can cast a drone every 3 seconds on harbinger, you can cast an incinerate every 6 seconds. The drone will do a max of 100 damage every 3 seconds if its explosive and dies immediately. Incinerate, with its 1.5 bonus against barriers, will do 255 damage if its Area and 315 damage if heavy every 6 seconds.

DPS wise, Explosive Drone does 33.4 damage per second; Incinerate does either 42.5 or 52.5 damage per second. As you can see, drone spam is really just using the drone wrongly, even when fighting harbinger. And never mind that Incinerate has a 2.4 multiplier against armor, so its vastly better than drone when reduced that much on harbinger.

Now against health, Explosive drone is superior, however, only weaker enemies have health, and those enemies can't kill the explosive drone fast enough for it to be worthwhile. An explosive drone will survive 2 rocket shots from a blue suns heavy, dying on the second hit. It will take longer than 3 seconds for 2 rockets to be fired at the drone, since the first rocket will knock down the heavy.

Not directly related to your thread, but do you generally enjoy playing on insanity?

In both ME1 and ME2, after I beat it once on insanity, I pretty much never bother with the difficulty again. Even if I understand the mechanics well enough to survive on that difficultly reliably, I still prefer Hardcore instead. Its just not worth the frustration of playing on higher levels against damage sponges with my only backup being excessively stupid squadmates.

I really like the challenge, but the whole getting killed extremely fast thing can sometimes get aggravating. But that's why I pump medi-gel often. I'd say that the most fun difficulty for me would be veteran because I feel I can play however I want and use whatever I want and have cool things happen (like an adept with a shotgun and shockwave).

But then again, its pretty rewarding clearing a hard section on insanity, especially if it comes easy (i.e. the tali recruitment mission as an engineer).

The hardest difficulty is always the correct way to play. Even on insanity it's pretty much impossible not to win the game just through brute force thanks to the liberal autosave.

... back in my day you didnt get to save! you had to beat the whole game in one sitting. THAT was difficulty. And I had to walk barefoot in snow to school etc...

Don't forget about Lives. We used to only be able to screw up 3-5 times and then boom. And then we didn't have enough memory to save, so we had to write down a 16 digit code. Course you could always use your 56k modem and head over to gamefaqs, (the best since it was text only) and just find a code for the endgame.

Alright I'm done trying to derail my own thread. New video(s) coming later tonight, its just processing. And theres some cool stuff in it.

You can always disable autosave.

as I said i play hardcore Engineer now and yesterday (I am from Europe so another timezone then you Gatsby i think) got stuck on Praetorian in Horizon mission. Died like 5 times in a row and then just throw off mouse and shout some not really nice words in Czech language.

Sooo i then looked how you solved it in your insanity run and i saw that lot of running (did it too) but you bursted 2 times barrier with Avalanche. The thing is i used Avalanche and medigel deliberately before (very tough the fights before for me) so now i am stuck with 0 medigel, 6 shots of avalanche.

My squad mates are Mordin and Miranda. What you think should i just throw in the towel and restart whole mission with another squad mates and more medigel and heavy ammo, or you see there a way how to burst Praetorian's barrier with this kind of setup...

I think the problem really was the barrier, i can shoot it with SMG, mordin cant do a thing, miranda warps it here and there and when she dies, i can go directly to load button because i have no way how to burst that damn thing down.

My adept video from way back when will help you out I think. I don't think I use any medigel or heavy weapons, and I also have mordin and miranda with me. Just replace the word "Warp" with Incinerate. Basically what you want to do if find a route to run around, tall cover to tall cover, and not get locked into each cover position but keep popping in and out. If your able to keep alot of distance, than you shouldn't have to worry about needing an emergency medigel.

ok i will look into it... but it's easier said then done ;-) the praetor is very quick bastard. And on the way from one cover to another i get almost guarantee that i get shot with his beams.

Yesterday I almost got him...it was like 1-2 incinerates, but got locked in bad position and game over... that was the point i throwed the mouse ;-)

One thing that may help is pause while your behind cover as he's shooting his eyebeams and look around for a position to run to. Use pause to pick the direction, and then as soon as the beams stop, you've got about 3-5 seconds before another blast will happen. Commit to a spot and run there. If your not far enough, do the same thing: Pick a new spot by pausing and bolt as soon as the beams are down.

Did you say something about charging the avalanche? It charges?

Also one thing I hate SO MUCH is how, if you have a sniper out and cast a spell you scope in. I hate how it looks, it totally throws off my aim and it makes me dizzy. I got sniper with my adept, and after a while I simply never used it because i hated it so much! It's the last time I am taking sniper with a caster class.

I find this interesting, because I used the drone as CC against Harbinger while taking that time to take out the rest of the drones/abominations/etc. and part 2 of the Collector ship was no problem for me.  I had a much, much tougher time on the platforms than I did on the rest of that mission because I didn't have anything to lock Harbinger down with and my allies were being pretty dumb with their cover.

 Collector Ship Live:
Part 3 / Two Ways to finish the level (Almost)

In this section I show the Praetorian fight and then two different methods for finishing the final two fights. Unfortunately I run out of time before the husk rush so a small section will be added, but in it I'll be talking about husk strategies and also future plans.

@gatsby finished the horizon today, your advice was good, got it on second try ;-) so i am very happy.

Then i went to Tali's recruitment, boy it was fun, i had to make the colossus fight twice, i am used to coming from left side, but that is bad side...the right one is very good :-).
