I gave it a try since I wasn't that far into my Insanity Vangaurd and heard it's an easy class on Insanity. I had to check 3 times so far to make sure I wasn't back on Casual somehow. I deleted my other one and will be using this. Not sure how to build him up exactly though.
Make sure you get ArPen Rounds, and upgrade to Tungsten. With this bonus ability, you can rip through any damage buffer in the game quickly. You'll have Warp for Barriers, Overload for Shields, and finally ArPen Rounds for Armor.
You can straight-up ignore Cryo-Blast.

i switch between sentinel and infiltrator. both are the best classes to play as.

Honestly, by the end of my sentinel run, I found putting on tech armor as more of a chore. I'd have it on before every battle but once it ran out, I'd stick to warp/overload over reapplying tech armor. My base shields towards the end of game was more than sufficient to protect me as I moved from cover to cover. The sentinel is exactly as they are described. The jack of all trades but completely unremarkable.

only if you use power % stuff. I would just get squad ammo myself.Inferno Sock wrote...
Tungsten (AP rounds max) are the BEST for sentinel coz it gives a good power to kill health and extra help with armor like those big mechs and Harbinger

ive found one point in overload works great even on insanity. that allows me to ma throw, warp, armor, and class, and my bonus talent. cryo blast isnt needed because u have throw. which is better.
Are you sure about Throw being better than Cryo Blast? I use Throw myself and I completely ignored Cryo but lately I've been really set on trying it out. Doesn't Cryo improve the damage done to frozen enemies?

I think each has its place, but they aren't different enough to get both on the same character (for an optimum build, I'm sure everyone could still have fun with both just fine).TheBestclass wrote...

Throw is obviously superior near ledges and cryo would be better for high health enemies. (Though throw insta-kills husks with a base 3 second cooldown, so I can't imagine something being 'better' in that situation).

However, I am slightly partial to Throw for two reasons: 1) it's slightly more versatile as a damage/CC move and 2) it's really, really visceral. I've always liked the "knock people into ****" or "knock **** into people" moves in games, and aside from Slam, Heavy Throw is about as good as it gets.

Throw (especially Throw Field) is, for the most part, a husk killer and considering that there is at least one non-optional mission (IFF) featuring husks, it is generally preferred vs Cryo, for a Sentinel (Edit : Throw also has a 3s cd vs 4.5s of Cryo, which may not look like much, but on insanity, every second counts). Cryo certainly has a place but I'm not entirely sure I would state that it is suitable for high health enemies, since tbh there aren't many notable health enemies altogether and by the time you get them down to health, you have 1000 ways to either kill them, or disable them, if necessary.

Warp is effective against armor, too. I don't see the need for a bonus power on Sentinel, but I guess AP is a good choice because of the health bonus (hell, shredder is probably decent).
Cryo is a great kill skill. Frozen enemies take double damage from all attacks and aren't shooting you back. With sentinel (or engineer), you just strip the defenses off enemies and then freeze and shoot them to death.
