i have a level 17 sentinel, paragon spacer warhero femshep named seth. and oh wow is this class wayyyyy over powered. i love it. i am a guardian with the tech and biotic 20% cooldown and i am literally just tossing every single biotic and tech power faster than i could think of what to do. there was like zero cool down. i only have tech armor and gaurdian maxed out. everything else is just 2. i can't wait to be a badA level 30. what a great class. still not as cool as vanguard :)

I gave it a try since I wasn't that far into my Insanity Vangaurd and heard it's an easy class on Insanity. I had to check 3 times so far to make sure I wasn't back on Casual somehow. I deleted my other one and will be using this. Not sure how to build him up exactly though.

Make sure you get ArPen Rounds, and upgrade to Tungsten.  With this bonus ability, you can rip through any damage buffer in the game quickly.  You'll have Warp for Barriers, Overload for Shields, and finally ArPen Rounds for Armor.

You can straight-up ignore Cryo-Blast.

fun and durable class, I really liked the tactical feel of playing one. however, the lack of weapon damage can hurt on insanity, especially when your squadmates spend half their time sucking pavement.

Tungsten (AP rounds max) are the BEST for sentinel coz it gives a good power to kill health and extra help with armor like those big mechs and Harbinger

i think i'll use ap rounds. i'm tired off dragging jacob around because right now he's the only one with a squad ammo.

i agree. the sentinel is my favorite class to play as. forget the adept(i cant believe i actually am saying that! thanks bioware you made the adept SUCK). throw field works wonders. warp and overload are all the debuffs you need. tech armor is just awesome, no other way to describe that. ive used warp ammo mainly because i do alot of warping and throwing. ive tried AP ammo but i dont really notice much of a difference between ammo powers. taking the sniper rifle really rounds out that sentinel jack of all trades feel too. its alot of fun playing the sentinel.

i switch between sentinel and infiltrator. both are the best classes to play as.

I used to think this too. It was the first class I played as and I did have a good amount of fun. But after playing as vanguard and infiltrator, I don't think I could ever go back to the sentinel. Yes, the class has good durability and debuffs for armor and shields. But you'll never get the visceral feeling of just launching into an enemy like with charge or the freedom of undetected movement on the battle field cloaking allows you.

Honestly, by the end of my sentinel run, I found putting on tech armor as more of a chore. I'd have it on before every battle but once it ran out, I'd stick to warp/overload over reapplying tech armor. My base shields towards the end of game was more than sufficient to protect me as I moved from cover to cover. The sentinel is exactly as they are described. The jack of all trades but completely unremarkable.

only if you use power % stuff. I would just get squad ammo myself.

Yup I picked AP ammo. Just not sure how much to put into that, overload and warp. Obviously should max tech armor and the class. I'll always have Miranda with me of course so if I max those out for her is it just overkill for me? Figured I should have Samara be the other party member with a maxed out Reave.

ive found one point in overload works great even on insanity. that allows me to ma throw, warp, armor, and class, and my bonus talent. cryo blast isnt needed because u have throw. which is better.

I didn't really enjoy the sentinel on my renegade playthrough. Admittedly I am more drawn to gun-wielding classes :(

Are you sure about Throw being better than Cryo Blast? I use Throw myself and I completely ignored Cryo but lately I've been really set on trying it out. Doesn't Cryo improve the damage done to frozen enemies?

I think each has its place, but they aren't different enough to get both on the same character (for an optimum build, I'm sure everyone could still have fun with both just fine).

Throw is obviously superior near ledges and cryo would be better for high health enemies. (Though throw insta-kills husks with a base 3 second cooldown, so I can't imagine something being 'better' in that situation).

I'm not a big fan of Cryo or Throw on Vanguard.  To make Throw really effective you need a Lift or Singularity, which means you're limiting your team choices pretty severely.  It also has rather unimpressive damage potential, and given the difficulty of getting full damage from Throw it's pretty much only a damage move if you can knock someone off a cliff.  Cryo of course never deals damage, and while it's got a decent duration, there are better options (just give Miranda Crippling Slam [or train it yourself] and you're golden).  Plus, neither is a great AoE on higher levels because pretty much everyone has shields, armor, or barrier.

However, I am slightly partial to Throw for two reasons: 1) it's slightly more versatile as a damage/CC move and 2) it's really, really visceral.  I've always liked the "knock people into ****" or "knock **** into people" moves in games, and aside from Slam, Heavy Throw is about as good as it gets. :D

Throw (especially Throw Field) is, for the most part, a husk killer and considering that there is at least one non-optional mission (IFF) featuring husks, it is generally preferred vs Cryo, for a Sentinel (Edit : Throw also has a 3s cd vs 4.5s of Cryo, which may not look like much, but on insanity, every second counts). Cryo certainly has a place but I'm not entirely sure I would state that it is suitable for high health enemies, since tbh there aren't many notable health enemies altogether and by the time you get them down to health, you have 1000 ways to either kill them, or disable them, if necessary.

i love throw field. its awesome. i acctually think its the best biotic outside of singularity. its got so many uses. i didnt realize how awesome it was untill that reaper IFF mission with all those husks. id let them swarm me then id aim at my feet and launch a throw and all the husks would disintegrate. the first time i did it i started laughing. its a great ability. far moire usefull then freezing someone in my opinion.

Warp is effective against armor, too.  I don't see the need for a bonus power on Sentinel, but I guess AP is a good choice because of the health bonus (hell, shredder is probably decent).

Cryo is a great kill skill.  Frozen enemies take double damage from all attacks and aren't shooting you back.  With sentinel (or engineer), you just strip the defenses off enemies and then freeze and shoot them to death.
