I bought the game on Tuesday but I haven't really had a chance to get into it until tonight. So far I've played two origins: Human Noble Warrior and Dalish Elf Rogue. My first full play through will be with my Dalish Elf
Rogue and when I get to lvl 7 (6 now) I plan to spec as a Ranger.

Once I got the hang of the party tactics window and how the AI controls them, it's become an absolute blast. You don't have to pause nearly as often as you get to sit back and just control the main character because the AI only does what I want it to at certain conditions. I love how I can sit in the back and pelt Darkspawn with arrows. Melee coming within range? No problem. Dirty fighting and I can start back stabbing with poison tipped blades or do some AoE damage with an acid flask. I like to save fire arrows for bosses, such as the ogre at the top of the Tower of Ishal. So very fun.

Herbalism keeps my party stocked with potions Also, trap making is a must. I love setting my party to hold it's positions, setting traps and then pulling Darkspawn into the area and see them get CC'd or slowly take damage as my ranged dps goes to work. I can't wait til I can benefit from spell combos with Mages. Later on, as a Mage I heard you have a spell to grease a certain area with oil, then use a fire spell to ignite burn the area as melee comes in close or you can do it where their archers are standing. The pause feature lets you be strategic and think about how to defeat a certain room full of mobs. Knowledge of military tactics is a must.

I just did the Tower of Ishal before I logged off a few minutes ago it was so awesome. The combat is brutal! Blood gushes everywhere and I love how you get certain finishing moves when you kill some monsters. The decapitations are awesome. I happened to be controlling Alistaire as I was finishing off the ogre and as he died my guy cut him with his sword then jumped on his chest to make him fall to the ground and then
stabbed him in the heart one final time. Blood gushed out as he pulled the blade out. Absolutely speechless when I saw it. I like how you even see blood stains on the armor as you continue playing and that it also carries over into cinematics. I'm about 5 hours in and this is just as addictive as anything I've played.

The next origin I plan to play is a Dwarf Noble Warrior. I'll probably become a Berserker and swing a massive 2 handed axe. Also, I love the lore in this game. It has a Lord of the Rings-esque epic story to it. I was surpised how even certain items have their own lore. The shield you get from completing the Tower of Ishal quest even has it's own lore and backstory. Can't get enough of this game so far.

Well done, Bioware. Well done.
