I have always gotten it to trip when I travel from Redcliff after saving the village for the first time to the Magic tower for the first time. It never fails. I get it every time.

I play the pc version and for me random is RANDOM as i`ve got it right after lothering and as late as 75% through the game

I don't believe its entirely random for two reasons - one, I imagine events are region-based, and two, the number of possible events to pick from increases as you progress through the main quest.



So I think (but can't prove) that it is easier to get the superman event by traveling frequently early in the main quest, and by traveling in specific regions of the map. Unless someone has access to the entire event table, I'll believe my own experiences to date (10 play throughs).

After doing the Peak travel from Flemeths hut to Sulchers Pass, over and over.

That brings up the meteor scene for me.

The Wikia says you can trigger it by travelling between Hornleath and Flemeth's Hut half a dozen times. I was getting towards the end of my last playthrough and getting pretty desperate for Starfang since I was a twohander PC, and that worked after three trips.



I've no way of knowing whether this was coincidence and Wikia is merely talking voodoo. I'd exhausted all the usual crosscountry encounters, so it was pretty much Old Tegrin or the Meteor, but that in itself means I'd made a lot of moderately pointless journeys, the shopaholic that I am.

From reading dozens (and more) reports from people on these very forums. People have reported getting it in every available location you can travel to/between, under all kinds of circumstances. It would follow logically that it is totally random.

And my personal experiences have shown I can get it anywhere on the map (more than a dozen plays), although I believe you may be right about it getting rarer the further you are in the game. I can't tell, because every time I got it I got
it  early, and I only really tried to force it twice.

It is wierd. Never got it on my first playthrough. With a warrior. On my second it was the FIRST encounter I got leaving Lothering. Of course I was playing a mage. Grrr, annoying!

Kind of like an Fallout when you get the Firelance encounter outside of Superduper Mart and some Raider picks it up and one shots you.  The freakin RPG gods!
