Now, I enjoyed the romances in DA:O a lot, but I also found that the non-romanceable characters (and the romanceable ones when you weren't romancing them) were just as interesting, so I think its a bit much to preemptively accuse Bioware of poor characters simply because you cna't sleep with them. Maybe the characters *will* be terrible. But its a bit soon to say.
Returning all the romances from DA:O would have been beyond the expansion's budget constraints, I assume. I'm happy with them just being referenced (heck, this'd be better than ME2). I mean, its not too shocking that you might be spending a few weeks or months away from your loved one to fulfil an important mission. Maybe they have an important mission too. It depends entirely on how it is handled - which, as I noted with the new characters, is not something we can judge yet.

Also, making assumptions on those who complain makes you sound like a jerk, romance is a favorite part of BW games and many people enjoy the fact that it's there. It's like taking out stats from a game, or not having dragons in a fantasy game, or not allowing the player to pick a gender. It's not that big of a deal for many, but others like that stuff.

Hey look, it's *another* thread where someone talks about romance. I guess you couldn't post it on the other romance threads, right? Because you have something interesting and original to say that no one would want to miss.
But of course, Maria. Can't you tell? I, myself, found no thread here where someone whines about other people having different opinions than him/her. (insert sarcasm emoticon here)

I do not see why No Romance is such a big deal. Hell, in all of my 4 playthroughs I've only had a relationship once and that's with Morrigan @ 30 ratings, just to try it out and nothing impresses me. I'm about to start my 5th (replay my 1st, I thought The Power of Blood Vial in Warden's Keep is poisonous so I broke it lol) and I'm still not planning to have any relationships with these guys.. I mean girls. Hell, I do feel close with Alistair and my other party members fighting alongside them for hours on end. Going through all those playthroughs, yes, I defenitely feel some relationship build up between me and those characters, but it's more of a Trust in their abilities to back me up in battles, like playing in a team with your friends. Now that's something I like about companions relationships in Dragon Age and they are Not taking those away, so the game will still be great.BeckShort wrote...
Get over it, guys. I'm a self professed RPG nerd; I love Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age, Fallout, etc. But oh my GOD stop whining about the lack of romances in the game. Let Bioware tell a damn story without attaching your own sexual frustrations to it, for god's sake. Find a balance within your lives. Go to a party, have sex, get a a girlfriend, but for the love of everything just stop projecting this...bewildering rage onto Bioware for daring to hinder your masturbation fodder.
I just don't see the need for any in-game intimate relationships :S
Once, I log on, I'm on to kill, loot items, enjoy the old-age scenery. These combinations alrealdy got me so into this game, there's No Need for Any Romances.

Nice logic there anyway...you sound like SO reasonable person who can't just ignore when people complain about it.
Some people took it too serious, many don't and i myself consider romances stuff as another fun stuff ingame also fit with story.
But still it not nice logic to just bash people who love it as RPG nerd, Just because they complain about no romances
You can just move pass and ignore

They are believable characters ..Beckshort, and its definitely Bioware's goodwriting/fault that we are going to miss them so much.
And not for the 3 second "sex" either...I will miss the chatter...and the interactions between say..Sten and Shale ..or Sten and Morrigan. But most of all there was a sense that you weren't alone in the game, you had the support of the npc that "loved" you. It was a good feeling.

Thats a very good point. Its way more fun to go into battle with friends you know and like than with anonymous people you are forced to take with you.But most of all there was a sense that you weren't alone in the game, you had the support of the npc that "loved" you. It was a good feeling.

I mean, sure, it was a surprise when BioWare announced that their new expansion would be entirely combat-free. I get that's why some of you ****** who don't have the stones to join the military and fight REAL battles play these games, but just get over it already. I, personally, don't care about combat, and what *I* care about it is the only thing that matters, as the world revolves around me. Just let BioWare tell a damn story without demanding that you be able to kill something every few minutes. If you want a fight, go to the local bar and shout insults at the biggest guy there, but for the love of everything please stop projecting your bloodlust at the rest of us.

I can understand enjoying the romance, and wanting more of it in the exapansion, but I can't understand how some people would find it a game breaker. The romance may be desirable, but, to me, it's not necessary in order for it to be a good game.
The game breaker for me is not bringing back Leliana and Morrigan who were by far my most favourite part of the game, they just happened to be romance options. Heck in my first playthrough I played as a female so I couldn't romance Morrigan and becoming her friend was just as satisfying as romancing Leliana (okay, almost as satisfying).

I love it. Perfect counter for the endless "You like romance/sex in video games? Weird. Go get laid."
Really? You like combat/killing in video games? Weird. Go join the army or a street-gang.
