Jesus with the combat already.

I mean, sure, it was a surprise when BioWare announced that their new expansion would be entirely combat-free. I get that's why some of you ****** who don't have the stones to join the military and fight REAL battles play these games, but just get over it already. I, personally, don't care about combat, and what *I* care about it is the only thing that matters, as the world revolves around me. Just let BioWare tell a damn story without demanding that you be able to kill something every few minutes. If you want a fight, go to the local bar and shout insults at the biggest guy there, but for the love of everything please stop projecting your bloodlust at the rest of us.

Hahaha, alright that was pretty clever.

Seconded. But remember Dragon Age is a dark
rpg. It's about struggling with moral dilemmas and lots of blood, blood
everywhere. I think it's perfectly understandale that there wouldn't be
romance. Now if it were high fantasy, then it would be inexcusable.

Interesting statement. You know love was the center theme for some of the darkest and most tragic stories ever written, a lot of times filled with morale dillema. The 13th-14th century tellings of Tristan & Isolde and Othello come to mind. Dark and gritty aren't an exclusive product of blood and gore, though the way Bioware has gone about their romances as of late I suppose it may be.

Get over it, guys.  I'm a self professed RPG nerd; I love Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age, Fallout, etc.  But oh my GOD stop whining about the lack of romances in the game.  Let Bioware tell a damn story without attaching your own sexual frustrations to it, for god's sake.  Find a balance within your lives.  Go to a party, have sex, get a a girlfriend, but for the love of everything just stop projecting this...bewildering rage onto Bioware for daring to hinder your masturbation fodder.

rpg nerd = someone who just love to level and get the best items ?

Remember Jesus was an immaculate conception. Be careful even if your warden is male, just looking at Jesus may make your warden pregnant.

Damn, I want to get Jesus's approval above 80, but I don't want him to get the wrong idea!

I mean it would be hard work.  Gifting Jesus would be difficult and I know if I tell him off that I will get at least a -20 and that just might make things akward back at camp.

*Edit: Also Jesus was my dog in Dragon Age, it would be quite out there to allow Dog/Humanoid romances in DA

No way would I romance Jesus... he puts far too many restrictions on me.

Lol. First off, this might be the funniest thing I've ever read on the boards.

I understand frustration with the lack of romance. It's part of what I loved about the game...the fact that the Dev's spent the time and effort required to go that in depth with the characters. I mean, it takes a lot of work to put in all that dialogue and to create all those reactions.

I don't think most people are in it for the 'masturbation fodder' or whatever it was the OP called it.

I'm not furious about the lack of romance though, and I won't be, bio said that the expansion isn't based on that aspect of the story...

Will I miss the heart melty moments...heck yes. Will I die without them...heck no.

And whoever it was who said the Jesus baby should fight Morrigan's baby...that statement is so completely full of win I can hardly see straight.

Let's triple the fun: Morrigan's baby vs Jesus' baby vs Satan's baby. Image IPB Imagine the possibilities.

It's just a little odd with the romances. I mean in the expansion they claim to be filled with a bunch of good storyline's and complex's people. How complex can they be if you can not actually romance any of them (new ones) I mean romance is an emotion. It makes a person vunerable/weak/exposed

The fact they dis coutinued making romances to carry over or even new ones certaintly would raise some eyebrows. It's not like we just are alot of lonely guys wanting romances. I have a in live girlfriend soon to be wife and I still want the romance option, because just like anything else. Romance is an emotion and add's more depth to an already complex person

To say well your just too busy to dwell on romances, really? is that so? then in Dragon Age Orgins, you could dwell on romances, pick a new king or queen, save a demon child, defeat werewolf's, save/destroy magi circle tower, call a landsmeet, discover the legend of the location of the ashes and single handley you still had time to lead four legions into a battle where you killed a massive dragon arch demon with only three or four grey wardens that existed

But in awaking, killing talking darkspawn takes soo much attention you can't be bothered with romances. Because your that busy? If you don't like people that dwell on romances, perhaps they just like a complete game. Some of the best games/videos have an interesting love story involed

William Shakesphere had a great story, Romeo and Juliet and it was a romance/love thing

Countless videos, always have a guy trying to get the girl in it

Most video games have the love story where you save the pretty woman

So anyone explain to me why romances wouldn't be a good idea in the expansion. Only thing I can think of the budget was not large enough to voice and pixel it which leave me to question just how much I will enjoy the expansion

What? You are telling me you can't see depth in any character if you can't romance them?

Sten is an interesting and complex character. We can't romance him.
Zevran is an interesting and complex character, without the need to romance him.
Morrigan can be an interesting and complex character, even if we don't romance her (friendship thing).
Leliana is interesting and conplex without romancing her.
Shale was interesting and we couldn't romance her.
Loghain is a very interesting and complex character and we can't romance him, sadly.
Even Oghren, behind all his goofiness, is interesting and complex and we can't romance him, thankfully.
And I could pull a list of ME and ME2 characters that are interesting and complex without the need to romance them.

So what you are saying is nonsense. Romance is not the only emotion you can have towards a character. You can be attached to people, love them even, without it being called a romance. You can feel exposed without being in a romance. Dragon Age showed us this. Or are you telling me you found no comnplexity except in the one character you romanced?

Sure, romance is a very nice addition. But to say that no romance = no emotion or depth, thern allow me to tell you that you are very wrong.

Pretty sure they stated,  the voice actors weren't available, it wasn't in their budget and....an expansion is too short to add in new romances, and....besides you're too busy keeling stuff to pay attention to the fact that you are married to the King or Queen....*laughs*

No romantic interludes or weekends for J00!

I am kidding btw ..its not something I agree with, people became attached to the original companions, whether by romance, fighting buddies...or best friends forever.

Kind of hard to pry someone loose from that.   I think by this...experience with the fans, Bioware will get a inner look into the human psyche...and try to do better next time. :D

Meantime we are expected to grieve our losses and move on...(yes yes more roleplay...I know :) )

You can have some pretty deep relationsips with the romanceable characters without romancing them. Different relationships, but deep nonetheless. I don't get why you can't have these types of relationships with the Awakening characters, simply without the option to romance them. Characters can come across as vulnerable, weak or exposed without you having to take them in your arms and nurse them back to mental stability (ignoring the assumption that characters being weak or vulnerable somehow makes them deeper, on which people's opinions will vary). Just because romance is not part of awakening, does not mean the character relations will not be deep or meaningful. Romance is an emotional relationship - but it is far from the only meaningful one.

Back on topic, what plot gifts would Jesus get? ;)
