Wow, I have to say I'm 'very' pleased that the majority of you aren't making any decisions at Bioware. xD
Or maybe that you just got canned after Jade Empire launched...
What new type of weapons would you like to be appear at AW? or DAO2?

Shuriken/Throwing Stars
Throwing Knives
Darts
Thrown Axes
Thrown Spears/Javelins
Thrown weapons should be shorter range obviously than bows or crossbows, but perhaps with a bit more damage. Skills for their usage should be a slightly different tree than "archery", with STR contributing more to range & damage.

I'd like to see some Asian weapons. Katana, Daito, No-dachi, Ko-dachi, Ninja-to, maybe a Yari or perhaps a Glaive or perhaps a Shaolin Spade. Now that would be fun.
I'd like to see someone who knows anything about asian weapons.
Katana = Daito, No-dachi, O-dachi** A daito is the term for any standard sword at a swordsman's side, a no-dachi is more of a staff-sword than anything else, an O-dachi is sword with a ridiculously large blade. All of them are considered Katanas.
Ninja-To's did not exist, no shinobi ever used a blade that did not have soi.
A glaive is not asian, it is western in it's origin, you're thinking of a Naginata, a Kwan-Dao etc.
I just want a bloody spear, partisan, ranseur, guisarme, i don't care. Bioware, give me a ****ing pole arm.
*edit* Oh and you might as well say wakizashi for the ko-dachi, no one would notice the difference.

Polearms- halberds, lances, spears, glaives, tridents, etc.
Face Bashers- wider variety of maces, warhammers (1 and 2 handed) and flails/morningstars.
Swords- rapiers, scimitars and PROPER daggers (not the shortswords they already have)
MOST IMPORTANTLY- fist weapons and scythes.
...
Ok, so it's not all that comprehensive. But they still need to be put in.

Note: same goes for scimitars too, actually =x

ps: i'd like to see flails simply for the fact that you never every see flails anywhere, maybe because they are difficult to animate...
pps: regarding different "use" for weapons i think pretty much everything gets covered - stabbing, slashing, knocking...the only thing you could ab would be some kind of spear/pole arm for piercing....
and maybe throwing weapons as addition to the bows etc. (javelins, knives, axes)

There is nothing as high a tier as Starfang axe or otherwise but Veshialle is a great axe. Looks kewl too. Kewler than Starfang. Or did you mean battle axe?Bathead wrote...
I would just like to see a really powerful axe. Something akin to an axe version of Starfang.

Baulders Gate is part of Warhammer(same group as D&D, Dragonlance, etc.)
This fails on so many levels I just felt like quoting it...
(Seriously, I hope you were jolking)
On topic : different appearances and a broader selection for the existing categories. And no asian bull****, please.

I really wouldn't like to see weapons that didn't make sense in the pseudo-european setting. It would seem odd.

ehhh it seams western though amd in warhammer the races and countries stick to what they are ecleast Empire is german/english and the elves weapons are more asian but any how you want asian type weps then intraduce another country or race. and if they start taken out the guns and cannons i would be a litle pissed
Again, I'll reiterate, although Ferelden seems based on Ireland, and Antiva seems based on Italy/Spain, and Orlais on France, that's just because of the demands of voice acting and the ease of locating people who have those accents, as opposed to sounding ... Klingon, or anything else. (And is why dwarves in this game STILL sound like Scotsmen.)
Thedas isn't Earth, and it could have an "Asian" culture on it which is right next to the "European" one, even though continents separate the two on our planet.
Many CRPGs have blended the two cultures seamlessly ... Wizardry let you play as a Samurai or a Knight ... it's only lately that CRPGs have become more determined to "ghettoize" Western and Eastern weapons, classes, and monsters.
For those who say "Asian" weapons don't fit the setting ... create the "Asian" culture/land ... problem solved.
BTW, I agree with the no guns/cannons thing ... please don't ... even if you make a tinkerer class. This seems like a "low tech" world where the most mechanically advanced things are the ballistas and mechanical traps. That's fine by me, I kinda find the airplanes, guns, rocket launchers, and robots of WoW a bit .... jarring.

And a heavy bracer as far as shields go. Also known as a duelist gauntlet. It is basicly an ultra thick gauntlet worn opposite the sword arm and used primarily to block in coming BLADEs it also doubled as a rather hefty peice of metal strapped to the hand/ forarm when the wielder wanted to knock some sense into some one. Some even encased the whole of the hand/arm and had a blade attatched to it at the "fist" you can see one in the Movie Willow wielded by mad martigan.
but a bastard sword for sure with its own skill set/line and depending on how it was wielded sword and board or as a two hander it should have acess to the coresponding skills/abilities of those as well

Heavy bracers is a good idea, I'd also like to see tower shields. Maybe I'll make a poll about the armor/shields people would like to see in DA2.
