Ok finally - think I deserve a chocolate now

My rating criteria were:
- proportions of face and selection of colors
- originality (at least to some extent - for example you can spot many female mages "inspired by" Mariko around)
- how well the character fits his/her origin and class (of course that's subjective but hey - for me a dwarf must look 
   like a dwarf, an elf distinguishable from a human on first glance and a mage a bit more sophysticated/intelligent
   /mysterious than a warrior)
- how I imagine them too look together as a group (mainly looking for diversity here)

1.  Anacronian Styrx - your group looks amazingly diverse and I think their looks reflect their origin very nicely. Also my 2 of my favourites can be found among them - namely Astor and Mariko.

2.Daem3an - again great diversity and non classical approach to many origins but they seem to fit together very nicely. I especially LOVE Drake.

3. Hanik Arran - and not because of the poster though it's amazing as I said before Not sure I like the colors you chose on your mage though but she surely looks twisted. Love Finbar and Hanik.

4. Riot Inducer - Helena's looks certainly bring out the "What I am capable of and will be party to
in order to retain it  would chill your soul." - amazing work.

5. Johnny Jaded - your characters  reflect their origin very well (except for the Dalish maybe), love your dwarven commoner

...and a special mention to valeymann88 as I had 6 finalists after running my calculations but decided your group works out kinda "soft" in the end, also Purple Lady was hard to discharge but great similarity between Aeria and Dezdemona ruined the group feeling for me.

Also best in category:

Human female - Anacronian
Elven female - Trillian07 or Kreugen (couldn't really decide though this was the hardest category for me to choose as I really really dislike pointy long chins that many characters host but on the other hand there must still be elven features present)
Dwarven female - Anacronian

Human male - daem3an
Elven male - Wynne or DalishRanger
Dwarven male - Evalee

Also I'd like to thank people who commented on my characters so far and all those who have written full reviews (like daem3an,Aris, Riot, Cuuniyevo - well you get the idea) I think posts like that really reflect you've browsed through each and every one of albums with care and given much thought to your decisions.

I think you used very classic looks for your male dwarf and elf, but classic isn't a bad thing.

Actually that was the intention I wanted to make Torteth as stereotypically dwarven as possible - like someone you could imagine smashing around with his axe, starting a good tavern brawl but essentially being good natured and fun to have around.
Also I wanted Erion to look dignified but not arrogant, handsome and flirty yet somewhat mysterious (an well I have to admit my anticipation for Zevran might have translated into inspiration here)

My nominations after careful consideration:

Here are my 3 first favorites:
1) Riot Inducer - Especially your human mage and human noble are very unique looking. Also, your female dwarf looks like she might punch me if I didn't vote for you.
2) Anacronian Stryx - Georgious female human, your daelish elf looks very daelish and very nice male human that reminds me of someone I know.
3) Aris Ravenstar - Your female human shows a lot of personality in that shot, your elf female and dwarf female are brilliant and your male mage has a badass pose.

Here are my 2 additional:
4) Trillian-N7 - I like all of your characters, especially your male elf, but they all have the same expression on their face.
5) Purple Lady - Love the goth dwarfette! Also a very nice female human

Honourable mentions: 
- Servant of Nature's male dwarf Derek, my favorite male dwarf in the thread
- Mistress9Nine's female dwarf, she looks very classy, very noble
- Deviija's male elf, he looks so young, very original
- Wynne's male dwarf Duncan, I just want to pinch his cheecks and ruffle his hair

Johnny Jaded - Not as much variety in age/coloring/whathaveyou as some groups, but I loved every single one of your characters and would pick any one of them to play, so that said more to me than anything.

I was somewhat worried about the obvious lack of diversity but it's due to roleplay reasons: personally  I can't see an older character being a Grey Warden as they need to be at the peak of mental and physical fitness; and as for the skin tone and whatnot, that's all based on the particular characters origin story and were made to fit in with their respective families. That's why I did not erase the concerned links from the list.
BTW, just check the thread, many people reuploaded their pictures because of that. That's just pure fairness, and Anacronian Stryx seemed to acknowledge that.

And I don't claim having any privilege here dear. Don't want to make you feel upset. We're still waiting for Anacronian Stryx to officially begin the vote, so, I'm sorry if you felt offended, that was not my intentions, neither that of other people pointing to me this portrait/CC screenshot thing.
Just reminding rules and giving a list of the album challengers, I don't pretend having any special legitimacy here, especially because it would be biased since I'm also a challenger.

Well before pointing this out I did go through the whole thread and yes you are right Anacronian never explicitly pointed out you need to have screenies however it was somewhat a mutual agreement among contestants - for example DalishRanger said she couldn't compete because of the graphic glitch in CC and some others also redid their albums to include screenies.

I don't know if you noticed but characters tend to look significally different (in most cases better) in the portraits and it's also a lot easier to achieve emotional effects or lovely poses not to mention how the colors turn out and we're trying to rate characters as they will appear in game - cc screenie being the closest approximation of that atm.

Obviously you disagree with that but I found myself unable to compare portraits vs screenies and therefore disregarded the portraits (as was the mutual agreement).
Also why would some people spend ridiculous amount of time posing their characters and trying to catch that wanted emotion while using voice options and waiting for character to shake head, flex or stretch (a fine example for this would be Aris' album) when they could just achieve that with a 3 sliders? Does that seem fair to you?

Don't worry, I'm sure this is just fine as it is. Many posters agreed with this. I completely agree with you, but let's just wait for Anacronian Stryx to decide. Meanwhile, I'd rather not go again on this slippery slope. It could easily sparkle a flaming war, which no one here wishes.

@b09boy Purple and Mescina already put it in a nutshell. There have to be some rules here, otherwise people could not only upload portrait pics but for example 6 human characters or refine their pics in Photoshop. It's just way more difficult to create characters that look decent in CC. I have created a seriously dumb looking character in CC and he turned out to look pretty good in the portrait. So portraits are not very representative to vote on. This is not something we thought up to irritate you, so please don't be angry with us. And I agree that it would have been better if Anacronian had included this rule in his 1. post. Maybe you could start a portrait challenge with those portraits of yours. :-)

People had their choices of how to do it.  Why should we disregard one way of doing it and not another?  Especially midway through the challenge for something that, like you admit, is time consuming.

When I did this, I tried to think of which groups I would 'hire' to represent DA. Then from there, I tried to go for what I thought looked realistic and looked for variety and uniqueness--meaning, as different from the presets as possible. I tried to ignore whether something was pretty or handsome unless it was really hard to do because it was either SO delicious or SO ugly-yet-fascinating.

Man, this was SO difficult to do.

The major individual standouts:
Servant of Nature's Male Dwarf--he has a very interesting face.
Deviija's Female Elven Mage--she just has something really smoky and fascinating about her. His humans are quite good, too.
Starwind 99's Female Human Mage--Really excellent color scheme.
Peacheshead's Rancoran--Insanely unique, that greasy street rat look.
Calydon's Commoner Dwarf--Very nicely styled.
Novasurge's Human Mage--He just has a lot of character.
Dennis Carpenter's Thelone and Lhyra are really unique.
Mesecina's Dalish Elf and Human Mage are great.
Mistress9Nine's Female Dwarf and Human are quite nice, and his Male Dwarf is quite unique.
Critical Miss's Dwarves are fantastically interesting to look at.
TrillianN7's Dalish rogue is very stare-worthy. Great look.
Ekas's Dalish Elf and Mage are particularly nice.
rodelbjerg's Human Mage and Dalish Elf both have a distinct and pleasing look.
Irkesque made some very nice elves, and her Human Male is endearingly craggy in his features. If he wore glasses he would NOT be safe from me.
Vyvexthorne's Sarenija is very cool-looking.
There's just something about Mystranna Kelteel's Female Elf that I really like.

Standout albums:
Aris Ravenstar's--It's a fascinating group.
Starwind 99's--She was brave enough to do a bald female and all her faces have something.
Peacheshead's--Really varied and fascinating group. Only detractor is that giant dwarf nose!
daem3an's--Gallows, Nadja, Drake, and Bear are particularly interesting.
Valleyman88's--all fantastic except for the female dwarf, which looks a little too standard. The rest look extremely unique and appealing.
Kreugan's--The female dwarf here is by far the most original. The females are all fantastically done.
Purple Lady's--Aeria, Dezdemona, Gabriel, and Talorn all look really sharp, unique, and have great facial expressions. Lot of life here.
Johnny Jaded's--Only the female elf looks a bit too standard in her features. The rest of the album is full of character. The male elf and human are particularly awesome. Very unique faces.
Linarc's--Her faces are quite original. They don't look like anybody else's.
Hanik Arran's--These all have character. I WANT that Dalish Elf!
Darth_Shizz's--They're all very different and very interesting.
Riot Inducer's--All his faces have something cool and unique about them. Only the Dalish elf is perhaps a bit too standard. The characters really look like their described personalites somehow.
DalishRanger's--She really went all out. Every face is VERY different from the presets. The only one I don't like is the male dwarf, but they're the hardest to do.
Saurel's--I just really, REALLY like them. The only one a bit too standard is the human noble; the rest are very unique.

Here are my 3 first favorites:

Alright, here goes nothing. ;-)

But first I need to complain! Why did all of you come up with such amazing groups here? Do you have any idea how long it took me to finally come up with 5 favorites? O.o

I didn't create my own rating system but used the one Mesecina presented, as I felt that this was the best way of determining the best groups provided here by all contestants. :-)
After I browsed the galleries, I narrowed it down to those I found the most interesting and started rating away. So here is my vote.

I am really sorry about the loads of runner ups, but I just couldn't narrow it down any more. There were simply too many characters in the competition I really liked.


Best looking human male: daem3an - Still the most awesome human male around here. This one is particularly great , because he just looks that real to me. Certainly no beauty (not looking bad either) but what I really like about this guy is that he has so much personality.
Runner ups: vyvexthorne, DalishRanger, Servant of Nature, Starwind99, Riot Inducer, Dennis Carpenter, Mesecina (could have been at the top if it were not for daem3an :-)  , Aris Ravenstar, Purple Lady, Anacronian Stryx, Linarc, Irkesque, DalishRanger (great job with this one, daem3an's is just a tad better imo), kreugan, Bebbe777, valleyman88

Best looking human female: Purple Lady - I truly love how you captured the slight gothic look of Aeris without overdoing it. She had to struggle with some keen competition from Aris Ravenstar and Anacronian Stryx but she pulled through in the end. She has the most seducing looks of all females in the competition imho.
Runner ups: Riot Inducer, Novasurge, Johnny Jaded, Dennis Carpenter, daem3an, Mesecina, Aris Ravenstar, Aris Ravenstar (nearly landet at the top spot), Trillian-N7, Mesecina, Anacronian Stryx (close to the top spot but was defeated by Purple's character's killer looks), DalishRanger (great job on the celtic look of this beautiful girl, I should visit Ireland soon ;P ), kreugan (again such a close call! a bold choice of a haircut their. There are few females who actually look good with a bald head and this one definitely does!) , Evalee

Best looking elf male: DalishRanger - Way above the competition! Well, valleyman88's elf came close, but nothing beats your dalish elf. This guy is so freaking amazing! Unique, handsome, charismatic, feral and with his native looks he immediately captured my heart. I'd certainly would want this guy to join my party. Awesome job!
Runnerups: Aris Ravenstar, Ekas, Purple Lady, kreugan, Wynne (love the exotic look with that tattoo), Bebbe777, valleyman88 (this one was so close to being at the top position...but DalishRanger's elf was just more to my tastes ;-) , kreugan

Best looking elf female: Mesecina - There is something unique about your female elf. I kinda fell in love with the way she looks in the first picture. That lovely, candid face and the way you created her mouth. Also, the red hair and the elegant haircut suits her perfectly.
Runner ups: Riot Inducer, Johnny Jaded, Aris Ravenstar (a very close call between you and Mesecina), Purple Lady, Anacronian Stryx, DalishRanger (close to the top), kreugan, Evalee (quite interesting look here)

Best looking dwarf male: Johnny Jaded - this one has the seriously most dwarvish look of them all. I seriously would like to have a beaker of ale with this guy. Just need to make sure I don't accidently drink from his beaker. He looks like a dwarf that would rough anyone who would do so up pretty good.
Runner ups: Mistress9nine, daem3an, Mesecina, Purple Lady, Fulgrim88, Linarc, DalishRanger, Bebbe777, valleyman88

Best looking dwarf female: DalishRanger- Just beautiful. Love how she is that pretty without looking too innocent and with a certain charm about her. Great job on the hair and the subtle choice regarding the tattoo.   
Runner up: Riot Inducer, Trillian-N7, Purple Lady (very close to the top and imo the most extravagante looking dwarf female I have seen so far),  Anacronian Stryx , Johnny Jaded (love the irritaded looks of her), Evalee, Bebbe777


Top 3:

Purple Lady - I just love your human female! She looks outstanding. There are no weak characters in your group and you achieved a quite unique look for everybody, except for your male dwarf perhaps but it's almost impossible to make a unique one without him looking weird. I found your dwarf female especially outstanding with her gothic looks. Also your human and elf males came out great. The look on Talorns face is just great there. :-)

Aris Ravenstar - Though your characters didn't make it to my top choices there were three that came incredibly close. Also you succeeded in giving your elves and humans loads of character, and also in giving them just the right feeling for each one's class and background without them being stereotypical. Your dwarves are fine but a bit too generic for my taste.

DalishRanger - Two of your characters made it to the top and two others were not far from it. Your dalish elf is simply a piece of art and the human and dwarf female are simply stunning with that celtic style. Also your human mage came out great. I can't find anything to critizise about any of your characters. ;-) 


Runner Ups: 

Anacronian Stryx - Mariko was scarcely defeated by Purple's Aeria but she is truly beautiful with a great job on her face. She just looks a bit too fragile imo which is why she didn't make the top spot. Except for your male elf, who looks a bit as if he has a fleeting chin your characters are all outstanding. May be the most well rounded looking group of all.

Mesecina - It was a tough choice but I decided on your group for the follow ups, because 1. I totally fell in love with your female elf (I totally would love to know the slidersettings for her :-) , 2. because your human male looks the most badass of all the characters I have seen in this competition and 3. because your group has the right feeling to them. Great job!


Those were the ones that barely missed being among the top 5: Riot Inducer, Johnny Jaded, dae3am, kreugan, valleyman88, Bebe777
