Ok, so having played through ME2 extensively twice, I find it simply impossible to think that Dark Energy won't be highly significant in ME3. I pieced this theory together during my second playthrough, and so far, it actually seems to make a lot of sence....
As we know, the Reapers origional plan was a surprise attack via a Mass Relay linking to Dark Space. This was foiled, and so the construction of the Human Reaper began, but it seems that this second master plan is somewhat lacking. There's no immediate purpose or plan for the new construction, and no explination of how it would aid the other Reapers, still trapped in Dark Space.
Now correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure that we don't yet understand the technology behind the construction of mass relays, as it is Reaper tech. All we know is that it involves something of virtually zero mass to generate a mass free zone of space. Only the Reapers themselves have the knowledge of how this works/ is constructed.
Think back to Haestrum (sorry, not sure on spelling), a star being tampered with by dark energy. What if agents of the Reapers were attempting to create a new Mass Relay linking to Dark Space, essentially replacing the one destroyed two years ago.
This would explain a lot of things. Firstly, it would solve the obvious problem of HOW the Reapers are going to get into the Milky Way in the first place... and second, the Human Reaper now has a purpose:
In ME1, a Reaper, Soverign, was needed to activate the Citadel relay. It's quite possible that while some servants could build the new one, an agent reaper inside the galaxy is needed to activate this new relay. This may have been the true reason behind the new Human Reaper, as a Soverign replacement to open the way for the invading Reaper Fleet. (makes a lot more sence than just "They killed one of us! Lets make one of our very own!")
Thoughts?
Dark energy..... a ME3 theory.

I have heard that theory several times now and as much as I would like that as a story twist to bring the Reapers into the galaxy, there is one major problem: The dark matter/energy effect on Haestroms sun pre-dates the Geth Revolt and the Quarian Exodus 300 years before the current timeline. The Quarians actually colonized the system to study that effect in the first place. At that point in time, however, there would have been no real reason for the Reapers to do anything along the lines of this theory, because Sovereign was still plotting to activate the Citadel Relay.
It could be that the Reapers already set up a contingency plan in case Sovereign failed (the Rachni Wars failed, for example) to do that but I can somehow not see that - so far, the Reapers have shown a remarkable single-mindedness in terms of how to come to the galaxy. First, everything rested on Sovereign. Only after Sovereigns failure did they send in the Collectors to have another go at the same plan. And only now that they have been defeated as well do the Reapers look for an alternate route.

The reapers will be defeated, but exposure to dark energy will turn some biotics to "the dark side".
Armiston Banes will become their leader, take the title "Darth Bane" and the Sith will rule the Galaxy.
