I don't know why people do so much fuss about cursing or language filters this or is it just American culture. During localisation of ME1 polish publisher made Wrex saying f*ck every two words and no one ever thought about language filters due to one reason - game has M sign. It always amazes me that in anglosas culture (especially US) violance (you can throw a merc out of a window) is ok, unless you don't curse. Or show boobs.

I mean look at Witcher (polish game). I can't say they hold back much. :)

The Witcher also had real consequences for your actions...
American priorities are messed up.
"Does the game have decapitations and people set on fire?
Yes.
Eh, they can take it, give it a 12+ rating.
Does it have cursing and/or nudity?
Yes.
CENSOR!CUT!BAN!"

I don't know from where would possibly believe that my kid can watch violoance, but not swearing came from. From psychological perspective violance is more harmful for a young kid to watch than sex. But it should not be a case here. It's a mature game! Mature! No kid should watch while you  beat up a guy in an interrogation room  And adults, emotionaly developed individuals can't handle swearing/?Or sex? C'mon.

So you play a game for adults around children and you complain it's Bioware's fault?
Ok....
When will people realise that Video Games are not only for kids?
/facepalm

When people who saw Super Mario Bros are dead.
Majority of people today grew up when the NES was dominant and Nintendo has usually been very kid-friendly when it comes to games, plus NES' were usually owned by kids only, at least where I lived. Hence, why many people think that video games are for kids only.

And oh yeah, the swearing in ME2 isn't bad at all. As someone else said, its a Mature game and if you have kids around, don't play it.

also only 1 character swears ever at all. jack is the only character to use profanity on a regular basis. zaeed i think says sob and hell. which are not really swears in my book.

so just don't play with Jack if you don't want to hear profanity.

For Mass Effect 2: F-Bombs OK, half a blue buttcheek not OK.

Actually, though, the profanity didn't really bother me, since it isn't egregious.

But fully-clothed love scenes were clearly a step backwards from something you could pretty much see on prime time television. I don't advocate for a full-frontal sex minigame or anything, but Bioware kind of wimped out on the no partial nudity at all business.

Mass Effect 1 got it right: Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 got it wrong.

Well, this is where you tell your kids that it is absolutely wrong to use those words at school.. When I was a little kid I remember hearing these "bad words" in movies all the time, but I knew I wasn't supposed to use these words.. It's part of being a parent, teaching your kids right from wrong, not hiding every bad thing in the world from them until they're 16, then having them rebel and making your life living hell.. ESRB = M for a reason anyways, it's for parents like you who do not want to subject their kids to this type of language/violence..

As you can tell, I am 100% against censorship, not just for the sake of having a laugh when someone tells someone to go eff themselves but for the realism these words bring to entertainment, these words are used in everyday life, BY EVERYONE, doesn't matter what class of citizen you are..

The old man once said:

Swearing only portrays you as an idiot.

No pun intended.

Although I'm for swearing in games.

Cursing is cheap brainless entertainment (like a bunch of other things I'm noticing in ME2). ME2 is a video game designed to entertain, so....

Cussing is also normal language for a lot of people. Oh, no one in their right mind goes around screaming **** every other word. But I for one do cuss when I'm frustrated, want to make sure I get my point across, or just to vent anger.

Cursing is a stress-relief. That's why amount of cursing increases with tension and sress. Study shows that people feel better, when they "curse" during highly stressful situations than people who were forbidden to do that.  For curious www.google.com/books It is really unlikely that during suicide mission people would restrain themselves.

lol...

Swearing also helps portray certain characters better like Jack, you'd expect someone like her to say "**** off Now" at the end of a convo..

It is normal and appropriate, and sometimes it is not. There are examples of both in the game. When it was not, I found it annoying. I actually expected the Korgans to curse more though. Hmmm, must be the translators.

It dose not mean we can't have a mature discussion on the topic (which is very interesting). Even though the OP trolled.

Head shots that spray mists of blood, hundreds of people killed, half naked strippers, adult themes on morality and you are worried about a couple of F bombs? Swears don't have even close to the impact of extreme violence on young minds. If your wife is fine with the killing and not the swears, she is a moron.

Our society and a ton of parents are just fail when it comes logic. My aunt and uncle would let my 10 year old cousin watch WWE wrestling, but if you swore in front of him they made you seem like a bad influence.

Cursing is a natural aspect. Some people curse in their minds, some openly. Don't tell me you never had a moment like: the ****?! or you've got to be ****ing kidding me. It brings life to the game. If you don't like cursing, then don't buy that game, i don't see anyone standing near you with a shotgun forcing you to buy and play this game. Its rated M, so you know what to expect. Don't buy such games, problem solved. Others like myself see nothing wrong in cursing, - I don't curse left and right, only in certain situations where it is acceptable, like someone claiming credit for the work you've done while he was slacking off - "you mother****er" is an appropriate response.

You're ok with letting your kids watch you murder people (and aliens...and robots...and alien robots) but you're concerned about profanity? LOL The easiest solution would be in invest in a nice pair of gaming headphones so only you can here Jack drop f-bombs. Might I suggest the Turtle Beach Earforce X41's.

It's because kids can't murder people and aliens all the time. They can however curse.

Complaining about cursing in an M rated game?

I'm sorry, but that's just stupid. If you don't want your kids hearing the bad words, (not to mention violence and sexual content which you didn't seem bothered about) don't let them play it.

Watching violoance lowers sensitivity to it and can disturb emotional devolopement. It is not as harmless as people think, that's why kids shouldn't kill people even in video games. However this is a mature game for mature people.

Kids can murder(maybe not aliens). And once a kid hits grade 3, he/she will know every curse word in the book anyway.
