Chris Priestly and the Bioware Development Team:

     First of all, allow me to say kudos on a great second game to the Mass Effect world.  In truth, I didn't think it was possible for anyone to give Blizzard Entertainment a run for their millions.  And for once I'm glad to say I was wrong.  Sure, Blizzard has Starcraft, Warcraft, World of Warcraft and Diablo.  But you guys, for as long I have have known Bioware was around, have gone one step further than Blizzard in alot of respects.  And I hope The Old Republic can humble Blizzard a little.  *waits for flames on that*

     Anyways, there is something I've been noticing watching these forums.  Now mind you, I understand you're probably starting work on Mass Effect 3 if you haven't already.  But a few things I kind of would like to bring up.  First, the backgrounds in 2 seem...bland.  For example:  Spacer/Sole Survivor background.  I was kind of hoping after getting that letter from mommy dearest we'd be able to contact her via the FTL comm room on the new Normandy saying: Yeppers, still alive and kickin', mom.  After being dead for 2 years.  Or when we get that letter from Toombs saying he's looking to gun us down for joining Cerberus, although not entirely by choice (and yes I do understand you can point out to The Illusive Man that you don't/won't be a tool for Cerberus numerous times by conversation choices).  I'd say, come and find me Toombs.  Put up or shut up.  I mean would it be possible to put these kinds of things in DLC's?  Or make them part of mission packs?  I'm not saying go all out on the backgrounds and make complete hellacious missions, but...just something where maybe Toombs or Father Kyle might find you on Omega and say: You, me, now.  Have it out right here or explain what's going on.  Or maybe run into the Reds for the Earthborn background after getting the email from your old gang.

     Also, when I walk into the Crew Quarters I hear a couple of NPC's talking about Ferris Fields or New Cantaan.  Why can't we go there and disrupt the Collectors from assaulting them?  I understand it would be a little godly to try and stop them completely, but why not another "Horizon" type mission or two?  Again, DLC type thing.  Heck, why can't we, after we destroy the Collector Base/capture Collector Base, go to Terra Nova and talk to Kate Bowman after stopping Asteroid X57 from killing everyone?  And like many others, I would LOVE to wreck Balak, Batarian brat that he is.  Is it out of the realm of possibility to do these things?  Or even stumble across the Rachni Queen again if you let her live in Mass Effect 1?

     I'm not saying Mass Effect 2 is bad.  Far from it. The graphics/story are great.  But like others have pointed out, it seems a little...mm...empty at times.  Definately could use some "post end" missions that maybe build up to Mass Effect 3.  I'm sure Martin Sheen would love to do more as well as Jennifer Hale. :)

Thank you again, Bioware, for making quality and customer satisfaction your number one priority.

PS: And for those of you who love to troll because you can, be at least somewhat civil if possible.

just as a quick note, great game development takes years... if they're planning to release ME3 by the end of this year or early next, they're already pretty far along.

@yoomazir: I'm always ready.

@sbear: I didn't know they were considering releasing that soon.

Well didnt you hear of Ferris Fields and New Canton after they were attacked? I think Horizon was the only time they ever managed to get there quick enough.

The email thing I think was put in to give people who played the first game a bit of story continuation without alienating new players. Giving them the ability to reply would confuse people replying to Toombs when they had no idea who he was. Not saying I agree with it, I would prefer it lead to quests or atleast ability to reply, but I think new players are the reason its the way it is.

I wholeheartedly agree with responding to emails or having conversations on the FTL drive, but as to the rest, about going to ferris fields or talking to kate bowman after the ending are not needed. There will always be "why can't I visit this place? Why can't I talk to this guy?" in every single game. There can always be more, but at some point, you have to stop.
