Alright I have been playing a femshep and had been doing everything that should be right about romancing Kaidan:
I completed Feros and got Kaidan to talk about being concerned that the galaxy aint worred about Saren etc. He also talks about killing his teacher, so I'm assuming everything has been done right up to this point. I chose mostly the good answers so I didn't ****** him off or anything.
I then go to Noveria, but didn't take Kaidan with me, since I wanted to bring Liara along, and wished for a little more firepower.
After the missions on Noveria, I go to talk to Kaidan, but he doesn't have any conversation lines besides the "personal input" and "tactical appraisal"!
I read somewhere that Kaidan and Liara are supposed to confront me at some point of time.. Is this where it should happen? I've not actually talked much to Liara before this.
I'm currently starting on Virmire, but this bugs me and I don't want to continue if the romance part is already dead. What have I done wrong? Should I reload it from after Feros?
Help with romancing Kaidan!

when you talk to him the first time he asks you do you ask all your personnel these questions? you should say no
and if you didnt then you failed xD

i did. thats how i got to him talking about killing his master after a few missions.
i remember getting to flirt with him quite a bit after that too..
my question is, is it possible that because i never talked to liara, the confrontation between him and liara didn't happen.. but that conversation is 'required' for the romancing track... so effectively, because i didn't romance liara, kaidan doesn't confront me, and the romance track dies?

Even if you say no, it doesn't break the romance.
@OP : What was the last convo you had with him? Was it something along the lines of "looking forward to the end of the mission"?

You don't have to romance Liara to get Kaidan interested. My first playthough I didn't even acknowledge Liara's presence on the ship and Kaidan still romanced me. But I think that confrontation scene is after Noveria, so if you didn't get it then Kaidan just says something about how he wants to follow through when the mission is over and you don't get any additional options for dialogue.

yea the last conversation was something along the lines of him wanting to follow thru and stuff..
i can't remember what i said though,
even if i DID screw up the romance, the fact that i completed another mission plot means that he should have some conversation with me, even as a normal squaddie, right? all my other squad members had things to talk about, except him.

Sometimes they just run out of things to say. The romance bit is supposed to be later on in the game I think after Virmire you get some more options. So just keep playing the game and keep charming (hopefully the pants off) him.
I wouldn't know for sure though, because I played a Male Shepard. I still got the converstation about Kaiden's teacher though. But that's because it was male bonding time and not flirtation. I also didn't romance Ashley and so the confrontation thing never happened. I just went straight for Liara because my Shepard is into alien whoopie.

If you've done a lot of conversations with him I imagine he's probably just run out of things to say.
Midnight Reyn posted over in this thread that you can check on your romances by taking the NPC in question to Flux and trying to dance with them (walk onto the dance floor and interact with party memeber twice). Apparently, if your romance is "active" you should be able to dance with them. Only ever tried flux dancing during lockdown so I can't personally confirm this but it sounds like a good way to check if you're worried.

Another, easier, way to check if you still have a romance going with that character is to see what they say when you say goodbye to them. This is also a good way of telling whether you've picked the wrong options during the conversation, so SAVE YOUR GAME before talking to them, then check afterwards.
Liara:
"Goodbye, Shepard." - Romance active!
"Goodbye, Commander." - Romance dead.
Kaidan:
"I'd like that." - Romance active!
"Commander." - Romance dead.
Ashley:
"Looking forward to it, skipper." - Romance active!
"???" - Romance dead. (Can't remember what she says here, but if Ashley DOESN'T call you skipper, the romance is off.)
It's also possible to kill a romance by telling the love rival that the other person "is nothing special". This was how I accidentally blew off Kaidan when I was trying to get the jealousy scene between him and Liara. After talking to the LI's, I recommend going around and talking to them again just to make sure they're still using their romance friendly dialogue at the end.

I decided to try dancing at Flux after Novaria (sp?) to see if you could dance anytime. Yes , Kaiden will dance with you whenever.

like others ... don't worry if Kaiden doesn't have any conversation left .... dialogue will come back after another mission or two (I remember something like "there's a cloud over you head, can you tell me about this" or something like that). And it's not linked to the fact you bring him with you or not on mission. I could romance Kaidan and I never took him on mission, never
(except when you're forced to ^^)
