Also, I almost chose Fallout 3 for my pick since it was disappointing as a sequel. Then I thought about it and decided not to. It didn't feel fair comparing it to a much older game developed in a very different time from a company completely uninvolved in the process. It was a disappointment to me in a few ways though.

I just dashed any notion that it would be anything like the first (or the second, I assume) after hearing the developers talk about it. They were definitely going in a different direction, so it's really hard to compare.

For me it's a tie between KotORII and FFX-2. Story-wise FFX-2 was the worse of the two, but my copy of KotORII (XBox version) had a game breaking bug that prevented me from ever completing it.

KotOR 2 was clearly unfinished anyway.

Pious, you can't talk about a game that hasn't come out yet, this is a thread about games that you have actually played and can form a real argument against

as for me, worst sequel would have to be FFX-2, i don't think i need to repeat my flaming of that

Typo, I fixed it. Should be Final Fantasy 12.

Tie between FF X-2 & FF12.

FF12 blew it by being too catered to leet completionists that can spend 14+ hours of every single day to perform the high-end achievement objectives in it. I dabbled on a friend's copy of the game, & checked out the immediate beginning of the game, then researched the game to consider it for purchase, & found out that to get many of the final weapons, it takes over 10 hours of non-stop farming to raise weapon drop rates to 1% or more chance. Complete snafu of a design. One of the worst design decision mistakes ever seen. I can't spend that kind of time in a row on a game, & even if I could, having to farm that long for so many farming sessions will burn me out before I could ever finish the game. This is the one FF game i've been scared away from. (I have worry about if FF13 will fail to realize full fun factor as well, but I am currently daring to give it a chance & am keeping an eye on it.)

FFX-2 is a poor sequel because it failed to do <3Yuna<3 justice. Nuff said. (A Forumite showed a video of how they made her Run in that game. WTB do they think they're doing to Yunie!!? <_<) I have yet to play it, pending indecision on whether or not i'll give the game a chance.

Worst sequel for me is also one of the worst games I have ever played. Sonic 2006 on 360. There are so many things wrong with that game, it's ridiculous. Long load times, places where you fall through the world... And Sonic has a HUMAN love interest. And they kiss. If I were in charge of Sega I think I would fire every single person responsible for that piece of crap.
Incidentally, Sonic Team is also responsible for Phantasy Star Universe, which is crap, and the newish Shining Force games... Which don't play like Shining Force games at all! Yes, Sega, Shining Force fans want to play ****** poor adventure games!
I swear Sega has been taken over by morons, it depresses me and makes me nerd-rage.

didn't sonic have a human girlfriend in the cartoon?
which also explain why tails is inferior to sonic as in games he is as fast as sonic but not in the cartoon when he can fly

Oh yeah, I 2nd that too. I watched my friend play that game while I was curious about it, & the Special Events in them & the way they were scripted & dialogued was some of the most horrifying stuff i've ever seen. I swear to the game gods it looked as if the Dev Team in charge of that games dialogue, storyline, & scripting completely utterly slacked off their jobs entirely & gave their entire workload to their little kids & the little kids did everything for them...:sick: I hope that team got fired. I swear the quality of that work was so bad, that Dev Team had to have been completely lazy & irresponsible. <_<

I never played the original Perfect Dark, but I feel like Perfect Dark Zero gets a lot more stick than necessary. It's multiplayer modes were astonishingly good and caught the mood of the old era of multiplayer. An arcadey type of shooter that was about having ridiculous fun. All FPSes are rubbish and serious now.

We really all ought to mourn the passing of Free Radical and how Rare has morphed into a casual games house. They might not have made an altogether brilliant transition to the present console generation, but they have a legacy of amazing shooters that they'll never try and live up to again :(

Fallout 3. It's not that it's a bad game, but it's just Oblivion in future.

This is why I despised Fallout 3. I'd already played Oblivion for 200 hours thank you very much.

Heroes IV. It was very awful game. After Heroes 3 it would never be great game again. I could say more games but I just prefer to write that one. =)

I would have to say Halo 3: ODST

That is the only Halo game I have not played.  No way am I forking over 60 dollars for a brief mission pack.

I bought it on the day of release, definitely wasted my money Posted Image

Yeah it was a major disappointment. I remember on release day about 14 of my friends were playing and it was an absolute riot. Good times for about a week.

After two not one person was playing it.  Even getting a team together to play it now is nigh-on-impossible.

Glad someone mentioned Sonic 2006. That game was an outright abomination. I felt dirty after playing it, like I actually needed a shower.

Final Fantasy 12 - In my mind Yasumi Matsuno is the Anti Christ. Final Fantasy’s creator had surprised every Final Fantasy up until X - 2 but this time Square Enix or Enix with it’s controlling share decided to give the helm to Matsuno. Again this is another game were the staff was against each other. You had Matsuno’s people and the people who have been working on Final Fantasy forever now it seems and that side came out and explained the huge internal bickering and they admitted as well Final Fantasy 12 was a disappointment to even then.

In this series we were always proud to be different people who didn’t like Final Fantasy all of a sudden loved Final Fantasy 13 but really didn’t play that even as much but it was better because it was a dungeon crawler. I hate this game and this series now, all people want is the old Final Fantasy games remade with updated graphics because Square Enix’s current development staff sucks and Square had to outsource the remakes to be done by Matrix which did the right thing in bringing in the old staff too see they were made the right way. Final Fantasy 13 please crash and burn

For me it was the other wa around. That was literally the only one I liked in the series. No more of that random battles nonsense and no pausing during moves is evil. Plus I appreciate Ivalice world a lot more. It's richer and more Fantasy-ish than all the other FF games.

For me it was NWN2 by far. I'm sure we all had great expectations for it when it was still in development but it trned out to be a buggy piece of bore.It did not catch my interest at all and I had to force myself to finish it.

KOTOR 2. Now mind you I don't think it's a horrible game. It just feels rushed and incomplete. But compared to KOTOR, it fails in almost every domain. It had weak characters, with the exception of HK and Canderous who of course come from the first game. It had a weak and forgettable plot. Uninteresting villains (with the exception of Kreia).

The only thing good that came out of it was more info about Darth Revan. And that wasn't even necessary for the plot at hand.

Overall, KOTOR2 is my worst sequel, as it was a great dissapointment that pales in comparision to the original.

You know that a sequal has failed when the biggest thing people remember from it is finding out more about the guy from the first game...who wasnt even in it.

This is the problem though, all the people who liked the series and had a crap load of Final Fantasy fan sites out there didn't like the game or shy’d away from it and people who hated the series before hand liked this game.

That’s the problem, Final Fantasy's core audience is now gone. The dead heart fans are still there but in massive like before, I think not. All the old Final Fantasy fan sites are either gone or no longer updated. Even the Final Fantasy Battle Game on the PSP did not include Vann which there was also an in game joke.

Final Fantasy was insanely popular and captured an audience and that audience had a devoted following and we all looked for games that were different from the main stream. Now that core audience has been lost, and you got people who like Final Fantasy as it is now but not as fanatical as the previous fans Final Fantasy has now become a dungeon crawler with more Action Scenes then story since the people who like it now prefer more action less story.

However, the Final Fantasy Fans that are still there and we keep wanting remakes or a Third Party Firm to remake these popular games because Square’s current lineup and development staff sucks. Hell, Final Fantasy IV DS development was completely outsourced to Matrix Software. Every Square Enix conference we don’t want to hear about Dragon Quest (Enix has the controlling share) or the new Final Fantasy with it’s new unique battle system with action sequences and to hear about how there will be little or no story but summoned motorcycles they keep getting bombarded with questions to have the previous Final Fantasy games remade. Square Enix is not doing something right if fans and reporters keep asking to remake old games rather then wanting to move on with there current line up of who gives a ****

If you ask me Square should of stayed a partner with EA, at least EA brought us Xenogears!

do you enjoy repeating yourself?

squareenix is a company, they make games that will make them the most MONEY, for no other reason, if they make millions on a grayed out mainstream crap game, will you really begrudge them for it because your nostalgia is enamoring past greatness and raising it to a standard that cannot be competed with?

hasn't there already been a thread trying to explain this?

However all of their current games have been getting an cold reception with fans. Star Ocean, and the horrid SaGa series which is now in charge of the Final Fantasy Series.

Go to any gaming site, all that’s asked is not what is the next Final Fantasy game going to be like, we already know it’s a crap Action Game but rather when is the next remake coming out?

http://www.escapistm...bout-FF7-Remake

It’s like this entire decade Square Enix ever since Final Fantasy X life was finished has been running on fumes from it’s past success but now it’s like playing a SaGa game, you buy and rent it and wish you never played this miserable trash.

I found a FF13 Site, & it might be it's Home Site. I'm keeping tabs on it, & just a couple of days ago, there was a Dev commentary that the game is linear only at the beginning, to give Players time to learn the new Battle System & set the plot, then it'll open up. I hope it's right. If it is, it looks like it'll work to me. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Also happy that they've fixed the links to the 1280 x 1024 Wallpapers that were previously broken! :D

How were KotoR2's characters weak? You had an assassin trained to kill Jedis who was saved by a Jedi he was sent to kill, the engineer who built the weapon that ended the Mandalorian war, a malfunctioning droid who became the leader of a criminal organization to save the Republic, the apprentice and vanguard of a sith lord who consumes all force sensitive life, and a crazed wookie who wants to end his life debt by killing the person who saved his life.

There was plenty of exposition for each character to explain their motivations and backstories. Heck, it took quite a bit of influence and several conversations to learn about each character's backstory. There was also a lot of interaction between the characters.
