Calian's Sword isn't available, While Maric's is. And Starfang is the best[In the game], but if you're going to play Awakening then none of these swords are worth it.

Damn man you should have stolen the sword of truthiness from your nephew. Pfft that sword does a lot of damage against dire bunnies lol. But seriously I would say Starfang as well.

If you're worried about porting into Origins, go for the Keening Blade. It's not quite as good as Starfang, but close, and looks very similar. You get it from whoopin' Gaxkang.



As for the original question, Starfang. Maric's Blade is neat but it's main feature is a special ability that doesn't work (weakens darkspawn). Duncan's Sword is pretty ace but no Starfang.

Starfang is by far the best sword in the game provided you have the DLC, but I think that Awakening will have plenty of new and better items than it available.  The game is self-balancing anyway, so I honestly don't think it matters too much what equipment you use, so long as it's not below your level.

Right now on my sword and shield character that I built for damage dealing, I found myself doing more damage with the maric's shield and sword combo(adds bonus damage and staminia regen when equipped together) Then I was with keening blade. But Then again I'm sure someone will say otherwise. xD

Well, combined with the shield you do get a set bonus to damage, IIRC, that obviously you wouldn't get with the Keening Blade. But the Keening Blade has special abilities that actually work as opposed to Maric's Blade, which has some nice text in it's description and... yeah.

Starfang is good but won't transfer to Awakenings, so I use it until I see Sandal in Fort Drakon. I then have the runes switched over to The Keening Blade and take that to the end. Maric's is great also but more for a duel wielding rogue.

I play as a rogue and I give Alistair the Starfang, I take Duncan's sword and dagger for myself. I like the Topsider's Honor and the Keening Blade the best. I think it really depends on what runes you put into them. I like Maric's sword as well.
