Not really a matter of opinion. It's a black and white legal decision. Just because you buy a copy of a game doesn't mean it is legal to pirate it either, contrary to popular belief.

It's legal to make a backup copy of the game for personal use.  I don't see why it wouldn't be legal to keep that backup copy on your harddrive.  And since it's a backup, you don't need the physical CD to play.

*shrugs* Difference between crack and a backup. My mistake.
