ME2 Installed great, went smoothly with no problems at all.  Been dying to play for a week while waiting it to get in from the mail (ordered it off Amazon).

Try to play and, oh look.  Apparently I've got some sunsupported hardware.  Ten to one says it's my freaking video card.  Again.  I can see the mouse cursor, and nothing else.  I can hear the title screen in the backgorund, so at least the rest of my computer works, for all the @$%^&#@$%&^ good it does me.

I'm too annoyed to remember to model off the top of my head.  Radeon X something.  Runs everything else I've played in the past three years just fine (Hellgate, WoW, DDO, WAR) all on max settings, thought it choked on Aion.

I'll dig up the exact model of the card, but first I'd like toi ask a general question:

There any way to essencially beat my card into submission and force the dammed thing to work?

Have you updated your driver to the newest? That would be the best place to start.

About two months ago.  I'll check again.

Oh, and the card is an ATI Radeon X800.  Haven't been able to afford a replacement yet.

That is below spec, I'm afraid. I'm not sure if there's a way to "beat it into submission" but the first thing to investigate there would be find out what Shader Model the x800 has and what Shader Model ME2 requires. If the x800 uses an older SM than ME2 needs, I'm afraid you're simply out of luck.

I certainly hope not. Admittedly, my computer is about a generation behind/ My brother is the one who built it, so I'll get working with him tomorrow.

Thanks though.

As for "beat in into submission" (:P) thats my inner industrial background getting annoyed. If at first something doesn't fit right, hit it harder. :P

A Radeon X800 supports only Shader Model 2.0b, the game requires at least Shader Model 3.0. So yes, your videocard is not only unsupported, but also unable to run the game. I'm surprised it doesn't crash at startup.

And no, it's not possible to "beat it into submission".

"Beat into submission" only works if you use the BFH to break your PC into very small pieces so you will now have the excuse, my PC is a broken pile of ruble, to go out and buy a new one.
